Southend Retro Rides meet

Hi guys,

We are hoping to get a group together for a Southend area meet.

Be great to meet some of you guys who are fairly local - although everyone's welcome!

Will update with a meeting place and a date near the end of this month.

You probably know already but I'd avoid Southend strip as there's an injunction against it.

I'd be up for coming along just to see what was there, bring the camera down etc, I don't own a retro at the moment though.

The seafront often seems to have the chav n blue led night but somewhere like B&Q or waitrose car park are usually empty enough in the far corners..

I'd be up for meeting up, my 94GTO is a bit new to be considered retro but would be good to meet a few of you. As far as places go, there is no injunction about meeting down the seafront, its a public high way but it is normally full off chavs at the weekends. There is the matalan car park on the grey hound estate, it has a KFC now, theres also the big Tesco's on the 127. There's plenty of locations we could easily get 10-20 cars without an issue.

when me and classic twigg organised one many moons ago guys we all organised to meet down chalkwell beach and went from there, i'd say we could do the same thing again.

I wont be able to attend till after the 23rd of feb. The injunction is on, not sure how long for. But the police have never been dicks down there in our retro's, aslong as we're not hurtling up and down or dicking about they tend to just leave you be, also to avoid all that i'd say park by rossi's instead of casino end where it all usually go's on

oh yeah, the more the merrier, if you've got something interesting and its not so retro bring it along, come along no matter what
i'll be bringing my camera too!

i know of a nice underground car park or 2 by southend police station thats pretty empty at night

Retro or not be great to meet you all who share an interest.

Just to put a date out there how about Saturday 2nd March (evening) at Chalkwell Beach which would be a safer bet than the seafront due to the injunction.

yup all good to me - and food after? As mentioned, there's the kfc at the greyhound and the new one down on the a127 on Progress road or Prince Avenue. Seafront has plenty of places too but parking might be a bit harder

Parking on the seafront should be ok as long as we avoid Marine Parade and the Sea Life Centre carpark where all the chavs go. I'd agree with meeting on Western Esplanade outside Rossi's, there's always loads of parking there out of season. There was a nice early 70's Merc parked there last night as it happens

Or Chalkwell Beach would be cool.

I would like to come to this too. Used to be a regular to Southend years ago when it was not chav hell. Would rather be near the sea than a retail park so Chalkwell sounds ace.
