Been on here for a little while with my Scimitar GTC. But I thought I would put one of my other cars on he. Brought it from a friend who had lost interest in it and had gone to uni. As I had built the engine and gearbox I thought I would get it from him. This is a sort of kit car but you buy a book my friend ordered the wings and nose cone which are made fibreglass. I rebuilt the suspension and body tub making most ofthe panels myself (not the bonnet louvres) here is what it look like now which I use it for charity fun raising and local car shows I will put the build photos on here soon

Very nice! I had a Burlington Arrow (the cycle-winged version) many years ago, sadly I never finished it.... Came across this site the other day while feeling nostalgic, brought back lots of memories of the build...

Or triumph possibly?? Liking the wheels, Although think you might need to space the rears out a little. Nice to see a properly finished , classy looking kit car.

That's quite a pretty little thing Indeed - looks far better than the majority of these type of '30s style kit cars. Proportions look right (which always helps!), and the wings have appropriate shape to them (unlike pretty much every fake '30s kit....) and so if built carefully, and with good attention to detail, one of these looks like it could be very convincing. Oh, and more pics / details please!

Teeone - your right based on a Herald they did do some with Mg running gear but you don't see many of them. Never really looked at the back wheel spacing but yes in the picture does look like I need to bring the wheel out but before that I need to sort the rear leaf spring it seems to weak. Em - I also have an Arrow built in within 9 months ( gave myself 6 months then ran into engine problems) will set up a thread for that one at some time. I built it for my Father-in-law as a retirement present. The Centurion was a big flop he went into partnership with a guy from the states got all the brochures printed but it never took off I would love to build one of these!!! If I remember the fuel filler is inside the car!! I set up and run the Burlington Register burlingtonregister.bappy.com/ just upload some build photos to photo-bucket will have to scan some in as they are not digital copies then I will put them on

had a look at that site before. couldn't justify spending $95 +postage on a set of plans that might not get built soon but I am always looking for new project ideas. I'm on a ban from the wife to buy any more cars at the moment. I think until I finish her 1967 Mg Midget that I stripped to a shell then got the Scimitar and her car got pushed to the back I had planned to turn the Scimitar round in 6 months I can't remember but it must be 3-4 years!!!!

But you wouldn't be buying a car, just some plans.... ;-)
Doesn't the $95 get you an insant download these days?
I think the Centurion was a flop because they replaced to 'rumph lump with a 3pt Kubuto diesel from a digger.

Yes thinking about it it would be download-able but would still have to buy the projects base car. Plus I think $95 is a bit much just for the plans. Haydn who owned the Burlington Motor Company has relaunched the plans for the Arrow and Chieftain and other bits for £14.95 posted. I know all he did was scan in the original book of plans onto this CD but its all on the cd. Or is that me being tight!!!

thought I would post an update. Having a few problems at the moment. Over the last year I have had a misfire, so new cap, rotor arm, leads and coil have been fitted. I have also fitted an electronic ignition. And guess what its still there!!! checked compression, all ok 140 & 130.I did notice it has been running a single SU not the proper twin SU So a call to a Spitfire breaker and a few days later I have a pair of su carbs and an inlet manifold. When stripping the old carb off I found that the foam air filter had been sucked through the carb!! fitted the new carbs now but It now runs rough and won't idle. I have tried adjusting the carbs and balancing them without any luck!! hope to go out on the car this weekend and start again from the basics - adjust the tappets, set-up the timing then back to the carbs. wish me luck

I remember the ads for these in the early 80s kit car magazines. Always thought they looked fantastic. Used to see a Berretta regularly about East Antrim in the mid late 80s and always thought it was the best looking car in the area. Never got to talk to the guy about it so don't know the spec. Always fancied building either one of these or a Marlin Roadster. Never got around to the Burlington but had a Marlin a few years ago. Can you still get the plans and the fiberglass panels for these. Just remembered they did a Morgan replica as well didn't they.

you can still get the plans from Haydn the guy who started the company in the 80's see www.turn-the-crank.com but for iva test you will have to make some changes to get it though as the plans are the same ones as used in the 80's The guy that made the panels is still doing them at the moment. they did make the Burlington SS which was identical to the Morgan.

Great stuff. Did you use plywood for the tub or mdf. I fancy the idea of an Arrow with aero screens only. How do they handle with the old Triumph rear suspension.

I used marine ply for the body I would think MDF would get wet and collapse. My other Burlington is a Arrow with aero screens. The suspension isn't great but they aren't speed machines well mine is not at the moment I still having running issues with mine hope to fix it tomorrow

Had another rubbish weekend on my Berretta. Firstly I couldn't get it started in the end I gave up and started on back to basics list to get rid of this misfire and get it to start when I wanted it to. I checked the valve gap - a little adjustment but nothing much, then I roughly set up the timing. The only way I could get it to start was to spray fuel straight into the carb, once the spray ran out it cut out. I checked the fuel supply and fuel is getting to the carbs, Checked the pistons - the front one was stiff and the piston lifting pin is seized so now I have decided to clean the bits of air filter that got sucked into the old single carb. At least I know it will run and I can properly set up the timing. I will be sending the twins off to be rebuilt so when I put them back on I know they will only need a small amount of set up. I know a few of you will say to keep the single carb but I like twin SU's plus I hate spending money and not use them.
