what happens if you put a metro turbo into the famous and loved..... austin allegro well, i want to do it but have a few conserns. hydrospastic sus- when i boot it now the back squats a bit, bit with a met turbo would the back go down more making the front lift more and would it do a wheelie? i have thought about thi alot and i think with the hydrospastic it would do a wheelie or scrap the boot floor? i know it wont proppa wheelie bu the front would get really high wouldn't it? also wondering if anyone knows how rare they are. i have a 2 door 1300 3 which is very clean. would i be killing off a scarce bread or cleaning up the roads?

Hmmm. not my choice, I think the handlings already bad let alone doubling the bhp!! I'm not sure it'd do a wheelie, although it's a lot more bhp, the power to weight ration would drop a lot and you probably wouldn't get much power increase from say a 1725 lump. Fit Spax coil-overs, drop 40 mm(??) and put a 2ltr B-Series Turbo from a Maestro / Montego in the front. There's lots of them around so I don’t think it would be much or a sacrifice

I like long walks, especially when they're taken by people I don't like.

I don't think a Metro Turbo lump would be my first choice for an Allaggro....I'd say that 1380 was certainly barking up the right tree suggesting the Montego/Maestro route. I can't see a wheelie being possible in a FWD car (not going forwards anyway!) Once the front is unweighted, you've lost traction and that's the end of that!

if you want to wheelie, make it RWD, have warm slicks, some nice tarmac and a chevy lump with stupid bhp.

i was told that i would get more bhp from turning the a-series already in place. what do u think to this and what would i need to do??? when i said wheelie i didn't really mean front wheels off the ground but more like the back end dropping to the ground and the front very high.

escort axal is about the right width and a pinto fits under the bonnet i know cause i tried it once never got round to finishing it but the basic thing was there gear box tunnel from a cortina or sierra hybrid prop and your away its allot of work but just imagine the looks on the faces of the spotty teenagers face when they get wasted at the light by an allagro smoking the rear tires ;D

If you're going to do a RWD conversion, then start with an estate at least! ;D
