I guess you had it NCT'd in Killarney . Were they " sympathetic " re the age, condition and personal value of the car ? Mine is getting close to testing but after years of so so tests in Killarney I'm really not looking forward to letting them all over the E24 unless they show a bit more respect to the fact that it's not just an oul' car ! I have to look into the nct test procedure for older cars to see what they must , or regards my ZF3HP autotrans , must not do .

Are you becoming the 944 hoarder of Ireland? . It is interesting to see that the project has taken a different direction in the build. With an S2 engine in the car should be quite lively! Surely you have enough parts to get the best from your 944 now! The shifter mods you have done will pay dividends on the road . I see the pair of us have fairly similar dailies (albeit mine does not look quite as nice as yours (shots of it are in my RST thread). If I am honest I am surprised that the E36s are as cheap as they are upon driving them! Well I think I'm just going to drive this one as it is for now. The S2 engine I think is going to go into the gold car if I get get around to that project. Thinking about a 944 Club Sport type of thing. My E36 probably looks better that it does in real life in that photo - yours looks clean enough. They are great cars though - always liked the look of the coupe bu this is the first one I have owned.

Great project and actually the yellow suits an early 944 better than I would expected, also too it makes a nice change from the usual colours. Keep up the good work.

Yeah NCT'd in Killarney. The guy that did it seemed OK actually but usually most of them are not confidence inspiring. One guy asked me if it was 4wd. The other guy there on teh daya I've also seen in the Tralee NCT a few years ago when he put my wifes 4wd Audi on the 2wd brake rollers. If you tell them it has an LSD they're not supposed to put it on the brake rollers. I took mine on an organised charity run today for it's first proper drive - over Molls Gap, into Kenmare then onto the Healy Pass, Glengarriff , Kenmare and Molls Gap again. Gave it a good push up Molls on the way home. I'm impressed with the handling. The manual steering though it feels great takes some getting used to the way you really have to hold on the lock in a turn. I still need to do a full geometry set up on it though.

I heard you all go by , I was working in the garage but that monsoon rain stopped me going out to see what was passing by , it sounded as though there was a lot taking part . Re the test , I was afraid of that . They're such a sullen ,unfriendly lot in there and treat you with utter suspicion if you in any way try to be pleasant to them. There's no slipper in the car and I'd rather they didn't drive it further than necessary to be honest . My main concern is emmissions as the trans in my car must not be revved whilst in neutral but I believe that cars prior to a certain date are tested at tickover .

That's correct yes. Tickover for pre 1992 I think. Make sure you put a sticky note on teh steering wheel anyway.
Mine passed it's retest today :-)

This looks great, and you seem to have gained 944s since I last looked...

This looks great, and you seem to have gained 944s since I last looked... Thanks. Coming from you with the high standard of your car that's a great compliment. Yeah the 944's have followed me home alright. It's been great to have them here because I can just pop out and get a part if I am stuck (as I was last week when a seal in my clutch master cylinder failed - I just popped the master cylinder off the crashed turbo shell, cleaned it up and it worked great. It's not like the UK here - there's no popping over to the local factors to pick up anything Porsche related, and the nearest OPC is >180 miles from me)

Thanks! defo not a high standard car mine, I'm still re doing the things I rushed to get it on the road. Things only seem to get fixed properly when the car is sorned... I hope to iron out the rough edges over winter. Its not as easy to get parts here as you might think, some of the parts cost stupid money new (£85 for a sun visor clip) and some parts are just not available at all. Lucky for me my workplace always has a few breakers so I nick bits off them. It took weeks and weeks for the engine parts for rebuild to arrive, if there is something you really need and cant get, let me know..
