Wow its been AGES since i updated this and there is a good reason, i've been busy lol, not just with the car but the family. Last i left we had just got the car back and made a crude MAP bracket, was waitnig a new pump and was plotting induction pipes. Since then we wired the MAP sensor in and also fixed the old pump, was just a loose connection we found when we removed it, WIN! so came the moment to start it and it well started and over fueled like a over fueling thing lol, while we waited on expert help team tech expert Andy downloaded a commom tuner program and we had a go ourselves at tuning it, it did'nt quite go as planned lol and we ended up going from over fueling to no fuel lol, after much head scratching and how to for dummies we finally found what we changed and a couple of clicks later, bingo some further fettling with some settings saw it idle of a fashion and allowed me to run it up the road under its own steam and on injection for the first time, noe its soon to be off to the rollers to get set up properly Woohoo, Unfortunetly its gonna miss cortina day which was the date i set to have it done by, well cortinas at the ace was but tina day was the main aim, but hey at least its working now I'll post some pictures now to save my waffling lol Wireing the MAP And fixing the pump Out came the laptop And when we could'nt get anywhere we brought in the pro in between trying to sort the running we got a couple of other jobs sorted and off the list, John and Jono fixed my bodged loom, did a cracking job the pair of them And then painted the floor for added protection And for the history buffs jono spotted these washer inprints, we guessing when the car was first painted new someone left a few washers in there lol And finally for this post my induction set up, now again not mint but at the mo only aimed at being functional, although i think it dose look kinda cool lol And a little drive up the road Next bit right up!

Part 2 of double update! Last up was the car was ready for the rollers and mot but i had missed my deadline of cortina day in monomouth i did however make it along with my buds and had a cracking time and met some great peeps and look forward to next year. So monday after the sunday show and 8am loaded and off to the rollers she goes And at about 4pm a picture messaged sent with the title is this good enough? Errrr yeah think i'll take that thank you very much 192 and 205 ft ibs thats a 28bhp increase over the carb and old ecu, Nice. so time to run it back through country lanes on a hot sunny afternoon, that was soooooo hard lol, It drove so nice and i barely touch the throttle to get it going, sounds the ducks guts absolutely wicked. I dropped it off at work ready for MOT the following morning which it flew through So we're leagal again now its time to refit the wheels and wash and polish and start having some fun seeing what this new set up can do Cheers for following Mike

That's impressive, that should move rather nicely!
Although, with some cams and more revs it could go to 215hp, I recon.

Well update time i left you all last time with a great dyno result and mot so what happended since well i kinda broke it, or it broke or a bit of both, i thought i had broken it when actually i had'nt but had a couple week wait while the pro came around to say i had'nt broken it lost yet lol simply i thought i had lost the map while adjusting something and the car was stuttering and not running right so i while waiting for Steve to pop around and reflash the ecu i missed the mk3 nationals and the fastest cortina event gutted completely, even more so when it turned out it was'nt the ecu and i had'nt broken it but i had a fuel pressure issue which i dismissed originally even though i looked at because i was convinced it was because of me playing with the ecu at the time, so after 30 mins of replaceing the old fuel filter and pressure reg all was well again and i smelt of vpower, hmmmmmmm vpower lol well a week later and me a bud who genorusly popped over and became wing man i took it for a shakedown and dude i looooooovvvvvee having it back and it drives awesome, here are some pics please excuse the wheels After we had been for a run my Bud took me out in his 2.3 ghia mk5, its a rare manual as well, such an awesome car, i've known him a few years and his had the car a long while but this is the first time i've ridden in it and i loved it, heres some pics my wingman managed to get a coupke of videos of our cruise, excuse the wind noise you can still kinda hear the engine note in places, hope you like cheers for following Mike

Very nice. Being the povo spec single headlight model rolling on steel rims with the power output you have achieved makes for a real stealth mobile. Until folks hear it on full noise I guess.

*So what have we been up to recently, urm use and abuse lol swapped the slots back on and done a couple of shows in between just some good old cruising, first show was the NASC hot rod show at trinity park in ipswich, the Monkey and i did together this was the first show the mk3 has done this year and the first chance i have had to honor a friend who died this year by displaying a US number plate he gave me, I met james through work and he was a big car fan, he was from america so we had similar tastes in cars lol he gave me this plate as thank you for helping him with his car, i'd always wanted one and to get one with meaning was all the more awesome, unfortunately he lost a year long battle with pancreatic cancer earlier this year, he enjoyed this show and i hope he would have like this. then last weekend we gate crashed the mk4 & 5 cortina fanatics facebook group end of season meet lol i know the chaps well so i parked in the corner, was a good little turn out Also got a 2nd little feature on the Mk3 nearly a year on from the one in PPC mag, very chuffed to get the old girl reconised again and a boost to all of us who had a hand building her And to top it all off whilst visiting my Uncle, who owned the mk3 before me we found so old photos of when he was rebuilding the mk3 himself Cheers for following Mike

Have just read from start to finish Mike - it's awesome. I thought that it was a local car when I saw the PPC feature as I also remember seeing it parked down Foxhall Rd.
Keep at it - It's brilliant!

Howdy all, update, this time work was involved lol last weekend we finally got around to repainting the drivers sill that was replaced earlier this, we finally found time in the schedule lol, we ran it up to my mates barn so we had somewhere dry and wind free to do so, when we got there the chap who rents the barn next door, who is mainly in to his VAG stuff asked what we were doing so we told him, he then offered us the use of his more professional air tools to save us some time so we pulled into his and next thing hes pretty much taken it on and prepping and painting while we help lol seriously top chap and very much appreciated. He claims he was warming the paint? Suuuuuurrrreeee you are lol Then while we were waiting for the paint to dry we decided that as we had some paint left over we'd paint my spare rocker cover, we had discussed this before hand so it was in the boot incase, there's a little uncertainty as to wheather or not the paint will hold but hey i decided it was worth doing cause the current one is awful lol Whilst waiting for all this to dry we tested various grills, wheels and hub caps to amused ourselves lol You know cause what else do you do while waiting for paint to dry lol then this weekend the rocker cover was fitted and looks awesome, i'm well chuffed with it really makes the engine bay look smarter, i unfortunately have been unwell but the Mrs decided as a gesture to cheer me up from my sickness she fitted it for me what a woman lol i was on hand to watch and drink coffee while she did the work What do we think? Cheers Mike

So update time, This is from around Christmas and just after. well what have i been upto, well since last time the alternator gave up so i replaced that and while there decided perfect time to sort a couple of things we kinda bodged to see if it all worked and make them a permanent fix, sooooo top hose was one, before a glorious Frankenstein but now thanks to bendy hoses now available with a 90 degree bend whola now one top hose, no more weeping also i replaced the alt bracket adjuster with one for the fully adjustable ones, not actually a ford one but for a 240Z but hell its perfect, makes what was a pig of a job simple now and both fixes make it look proper and neat, pics below, also i've finally after 9 years installed a proper washer fix, the screen washers were on a flick switch but i've now swapped to the old ignition start button and fixed it into the dash, chuffed as, while i was there i also swapped the plastic grill for a steel one, i spent a couple days cleaning it, not convined but it'll do till my twin one arrives, i was using the old beast daily so i could work through any possible issues and she was spot on...until..on day when it got cold and nope not gonna idle, well after trouble shooting all the obvious i gave up and she went back to the chap who mapped her and she needed some mapping tweaks as since first mapped i have replaced some bits and the seem to have had a knock on, now all is bang on exept when really cold and shes a bit funky for a minute of so but then perfect so not all bad, so enough waffle heres some pics............. Right as soon as the next batch of pics download i'll update with the goings on since then lol Cheers Mike
