Yeah... M3 style crystal lamps (white top/red bottom for me), lose/relocate the foglamp, I'd keep the recess for the plate but smooth the raised bit that presumably holds the plate lights. Neater rear wiper from something more modern (Punto?), smooth the panel under the bumper (I see two lumps where presumably the bumper mounts that can be smoothed), fill in the indent where the exhaust is, and replace the tailpipe for one that bends down 90 degrees at the end and is hidden behind the panel. You could maybe paint the centre section of the tailgate, between the lamps, in a contrasting two-tone colour, or satin black, might be interesting And you could paint the bumpers like they do on late Mk1 Golfs - body coloured top and bottom but black/whatever centre strip. Could work well

I always find a nice starter point for UK versions of Japanese cars is to see what the Japanese specifications look like and try to pick up a few ideas from there. This mega early one looks great, no clumsy plastic door protectors, tiny little bumpers and a pretty cool set of steel wheels. Fender mirrors are always a bonus. I think that looks nice as is, but just changing the stance a bit would improve it tenfold. I think with this sort of car it is best to aim for a nice clean look. Most old Micras look bad nowadays because they're covered in tatty, greying plastics and accessories which can make a car like it look cluttered, e.g. rear wipers, aerials, etc. Losing the side repeaters could be an idea, never have understood why the UK is fascinated with them when a lot of other places just happily do without. As for the back, the biggest problem on the Micra is those huge boxes on the boot which I assume contain the numberplate lights. Smooth them off and redo the lighting as needed, style problem solved!

Looks like they come with a ready-built swallowtail! This fresh in from my autoshite thread. Not immediately sure what you could do to tidy it up. This ones an early one, earlier than all mine , by months only. slightly later, it has 'those boxes' yeh those dumpy things are plate lights, also useful for opening and closing boot. there is so much potential, keeping simple j spec is good, so is b&D's Corel shop, well done that program does my head in!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

As always Hirst has come up with a studio pic of a really early one with nice steelies and funny mirrors that I absolutely want more than anything in the world right now. So clean looking when in their original, base-car format. It looks like some exotic thing we never got here - Well done!
Not wanting to stir things up but custom threads sometimes go into many pages of replies just like this one (silver `36 business coupe springs to mind), usually when an argument or some controversy breaks out, as was the case here. If everyones being nice and saying "I like that" or "not my cup of brooke bond but can see why its good" etc. then theres a limit to how long that will go on for, whereas if people say "thats pi55 poor" then someone else says "no its not its really splendid" that will create more interest because everyone loves a bit of drama.
