MK2 Golf GTi 8v - now for sale! :(

Decided i'd better put some pics up of new project car!

Bought locally cheap - only done 30 miles in the last 3 years - only mods are the BBS 14" wheels (BMW RBA's) and a set of upraded springs and shocks.

As bought with 1 months MOT & Tax










Got it through an MOT after:-
new calipers x 2 on the back
new discs and bearings
new brake lines
new fuel pumps x 2
new fuel pump relay
new fuse box
4x Bosch plugs
new leads
new coil
new dizzy
new TCi module
uprated headlight loom

Passed first time with 1 advisory (drivers side seat doesnt tilt)

New centres fitted (only came with 2!) smoked indicators "GTi" side repeater blanks & 16v lights.

Underbonnet tidied up.

The lamps are actually genuine Bosch ones with correct MK2 golf brackets - you remove the lower of the screws that holds the wing to the front panel and fit a special squared of washered screw to hold the lamp to. Was a mis-listed ebay bargin! (covers are just some I had lying about!)

New plans are to redo the Sebrings in Silver Plasti-dip (just recently powdercoated in black, but look a bit lost in there)
Get the bushes replaces in the front suspension
Repair drivers side seat

And enjoy it.

I like the driving lamps, I've had 15 mk2s and currently own 2, but never tried that look before *goes ebay hunting*

Uprated light loom is a must on these, hope you got/made a kit with 2 relays for the dipped beam, too many ebay special kits about with one relay for both dipped beam, known to cause a stained undies moment when the relay gets damp and fails!

I actually make and sell my own looms to the owners club and on a few facebook pages.

Mine have an aux fuse box (from battery to fuse box, velcro's to side of the battery!), each relay has its own fuse. 1 relay for each headlight dipped beam, 1 relay for full beam for outer lamps and last relay for grill lamps. All done correclty with crimped connectors and heat shrink, relays all clipped together on a mount which just fits in front of the battery behind the p/s side headlight. Its something ive been doing for ages and slowly learned from experience how to do them correctly.

Even the driving lights have their own little relayed loom too!

Ok So I thought i'd better update this!

Since then its been in the bodyshop twice - once to replace the scuttle panel and upper section of the bulkhead (fuse box was faulty due to water getting into the car via a badly fitted windscreen seal) - 2nd time was due to an MOT failure (seal split on both rear turrets - so repaired by drilling out spot weld and welding the seams and plating the small holes)

Its now on old skool Avo top adjustable coilovers set pretty low. new top mounts, wishbones bushes etc. Also fitted CB & Bluetooth radio for handsfree and music...

Oh and headlight washers, Heckblende & Magnex exhaust system...

Ive also got a new project car too - this is currently the new daily (my Mk5 Jetta TDi is now for sale!)

This is maybe a little new for on Retro-rides - but it is a rare beast!







Its a 3.2 V6 4motion - not bad for £4k...

Mk2 is back on the Road - its been having issues with batteries recently going flat! Turned out the bulb switch for in the boot has been damaged by the bodyshop, so the 2 points have been touching and running the battery flat. Temporary fix - removed bulb....

New wheels are on, the car has been washed & the sun is shining...... Well - 2 out of 3 isn't bad!!!

The Jetta has since been sold.... And the Passat hit with the coilover stick!

LOVE the trailer (MK2???) on the car in front.....

the wife has a B6 Passat with 157,000 on it now and have always loved that ride. peppy, comfy, ect. (2.0T FSI) I have fancied a wagon like yours for some time....

This is what i have in mind. Just starting to buy up graphics and other bits and pieces. Wheels are proving hard to find (Ronal R8's - only 1 set on ebay!) Need to raise the suspension & upgrade a few parts. Should be fun!
