Folks my names Ian I've been meaning to post this peice of Communist curse word on here for sometime but I was using another forum which has all but dried up. My Lotus Lada replica built by my own fair hand in 2011/12 at a cost of around 40k, using all old school analouge technology and it still goes like a stabbed Rat, fast enough to take on nearly anything on track, you should see their faces when a 22 year old Lada has just drove around the outside of their BMW's .

That looks like a lot of fun. I'm a bit confused as I have either seen this or the original somewhere. Was it in a magazine at some point or was that the original car ?

No, the original was built in 2002 by Top Gear/Lotus and was sold to the owner of the German Lotus Elise club, he died about 2 years ago and its now sat in a showroom in a Lotus dealers in Dortmund
This car has been featured in Retro cars May 13 and Auto italia Dec 13

I remember the top gear one well. You seem to have made a cracking job of yours too. I bet that's a right giggle on track and it sounds sweet. It is great to see an underestimated car passing everything. Well done.

Thanks Folks, The original car suffered because it was lashed together in only 5 weeks, Top Gear said it took 7 days but that was curse word, it spend 3 weeks in the paint shop alone. They had a job to do and did the best they could with the Resource and budget they had. They were dissapointed that the car was returned to the owner only a day or so after completion, they would have liked the chance to iron it out and do a bit of promotional stuff but it wasn't to be.

they said it took 2 weeks and 1000 hours (guessing they meant man hours as i make that 336 lol) and would cost 100k if you commissioned it yourself your 40 is a bargain

I'm sure I have seen an article about the original car somewhere, was that in the original Reto cars magazine perhaps. I currently have a lot of old car magazines scattered abut in the loft from when I was searching for something else. If I look now I won't fall off the loft ladder ! It's new Years eve and I have a few beers in.
I think yours actually looks better than the original and is probably the car they wanted to build if they had a bit more time by the sound of things.

Yeah seems so, However in my experience ( With possibly the exception and dedication of 2-3 individuals) the UK Lada scene/fraternity isn't interested one bit into modifying Lada's. Only real mind boggling inovations going on are such things as maybe making their russian carb pump jet stop leaking with a 35p tap washer from B+Q or retro fitting and electric fan from some mouldy old ex Taxi Diesel Peugeot from the scrap yard, shame really because its thriving everywhere else.
