Began the process of raising the shock strut towers, so firstly the aim is to make space in the wheel arch for the extended piece. Once this is located correctly the next step will be to cut a large enough hole in both the existing tower and the new metal. The weld the piece in place and test fit the air shock, should make good progress this bank holiday weekend.

I take it you'll still be able to shut the bonnet?! Haha, yes dude, I've measured about 300 times, even with the shock nut and pin thread sticking out of the arch the bonnet will have at least 1.5" clearance, phewww, wipe brow moment!

Not 100% sure on wheels yet, the originals (first photo) are nice but are 14", I think I need at least 15" possibly 16", but choices are limited if you want a direct fit. The second photo has 15" Rota BM8 Honda, as far as I know they slip straight in. The original do polish up well though, picture below shows a quick test just by hand polishing, with machine polishing these will be back to mirror finish. If anyone has any other ideas, 4x114.3 15-17" I'm all ears!

Cut both sides now and you get an idea of where I am going with this. Thanks for the wheels heads up.

Wow this is my new favourite build! It looks spot on in that mock up. Original Lotus wheels are one of my favourites designs out there, but those Rotas look like they're meant to be. These cars still seem to be over-shadowed by other Lotuses and exotica, but they are a brilliant bit of 70's sharp styling. Really need to own one before prices rocket.

Thanks ^^ I managed to build the new extended top shock mount today and test fit it once more, looks like I will now have the drop I require aswell as maintaining ride quality. Need to fabricate the second mount tomorrow before I weld it in. I may add a brace over the whole top mount for added security. Can't tell you how many times I have measured, it's true what they say measure twice cut once, photos Tuesday.

^^Cheers dude, just been trying to order the wheels, hard to find exactly what I need in the UK, but the good ol' US of A seem to have them, hopefully I can source them from there. I've found and purchased some cool exhaust silencers (photos shortly) that will be similar to the photoshop image, will need to reroute the pipes as I want a straight through system, let loose those remaining horses ;-)

I got vivid memories of my old mans JPS coloured one (later became mine) listening to queen while he raced his mates brand new mk5 rs2000! Naturally the elite smashed it. The engine noise from that twink still gives me goose bumps! Lol would love one of these again although I couldn't be as brave as you I wouldn't have the guts to start choppin! Lol
