hi all!!!! bought a 1975 / 1976 (P reg) Hillman hunter 4 door super saloon... bit of a wreck tbh! But the shell is completely rust free, no rot or any signs of welding...! I am going to try and get the car back up to scratch and do some mods (mainly lowered and stanced with a nice set of deep dish) thought some people might be interested so here goes.......

new manifold came before i collected the engine! ha still looks nice though new wheels came too.... minilite 13" x 7j got tyres too but, as liberating as the photo was, ive left it out haha the alloys have a different pcd to the hunter so I'm going to have to put the hubs on my milling machine at work and drill new stud holes

taken the front struts apart and also fitted new adjustable shocks on the back the rear hardly even moves now much better than the passion wagon bounce it had before! Don't get me wrong it was hilarious, but when it comes to cornering, I could have ended up in the wrong sorta hedge ha just what i wanted for when i put lowering blocks on the back axle. leaf springs are different for those that are new to them. you cant just compress them so they're shorter and lower, so they don't get harder and stop moving as much. the rear axle is mounted ontop the leaf springs, so i will have to put blocks between the rear axle and springs to get the required ride hieght drop desired

right so for the front suspension ive replaced the shocks with new adjustable ones, then I ordered some adjustable spring cups from rallydesigns website. they're just threaded sleeves with c type locking nut / seat things... I cut the old seats off the struts (a bit nail biting) and welded the new sleeves on. then ordered some short, stiff 500lbs competition rally springs off ebay altering the top spring cups so they sit on the bearing that allows the strut to swivel and steer... the new, damping adjustable, height adjustable "coilovers" made from the old struts.... and might i add, at a fraction of the prices off actual coilovers!!!! next job is to drill the new PCDs for the new wheel nuts while all the hubs are off, and plumb the fuel system up!!!!!

I have to say, many thanks to my girlfriend for understanding me not seeing her as much atm! lol
although she fails to see what the car should hopefully come out like... all she is worried about is when I'm going to get it resprayed!!!! haha doesn't seem to realise a nicely painted car is no good if it doesn't move!
