Hi fellow RR people. I'm trying to find some old style sunstrip's from back in the 80's. The ones I remember were transparent blue or green with white writing made of the sort of stuff old tax disc holders were made from, so they weren't sticky but kind of clung to the window. The two I particularly want are Ringwood Raceway & Poole Speedway. Both of these places I remember well visting as a kid with my old man. I have contacted the two places but they cannot help. To find some good pictures or even better the actual sunstrip from back in the day so I can look into getting one of each made for when I go back to these places in my Escort. Maybe not the type with my name & the wifes name though, She might not see the funny side...... Can anyone help ? Thanks & hopefully I 'll have one in for RRG14

I know which ones you mean, the material had a funny smell to it when you peeled away the backing material. It eventually started to peel at the corners after a few years in direct sunlight from experiance. Unfortunately I have no idea what it was....

I have one that says 'turbo'. I found them at an auto jumble and bought 2. One ended up in my TZD Turbo BX, the other is in the kitchen 'man draw', having nothing with a turbo on to stick it in. Haha!

Yes Dodgerover thats the ones I'm thinking of. They were see through stretchy plastic that kind of clung to the glass but would be easily removed & your right they did peel at the edges after a while from uv damage. But warm soapy water revived them for a bit. I'd like to get some made of my two local raceways. Ringwood Raceway & Poole Pirates Speedway but I just need an picture of what the old ones look like to copy

None of that bright primary coloured nonsense for me thanks, just reliable old blends-in beige

What Welshpug means is you can get the look of the old window 'cling' vinyl with translucent sticky vinyl.
If you can find some translucent green or blue vinyl, I could make you a visor sticker exactly how your describing it, except it'll be sticky, so once it's in place it won't peel back at the edges, but no one will be any the wiser.
Let me know if this sounds like something you would like?

What you're after is this look: but with Ringwood Raceway instead. What you don't want it this look: I can do the traditional look for you, but it will be sticky. Once it's fitted no one will know the difference.

Mystery Machine, You sir have hit the retro sunstrip nail on the head. That is exactly the look I am going for .... The Cortina Santa Pod look... Not the chav Saxo look. I am not clued up on the graphic's/sticky side of things but I now see what Welshpug means. It would be better made of sticky plastic so it doesn't all end up in your lap one day while driving. I was hoping to get some made up for RRG14 but time is drawing close & the list of things to do on Ratina gets longer...... As soon as I can find a decent image I will send it through to you. What sort of money are we talking. This link is an old fixture list. The sunstrips had the same style writing but without the 3 lines going through the writing if that makes sense www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ringwood-Raceway-Matchams-1st-2nd-May-1994-Banger-teams-/231307591682?pt=UK_Sports_Memorabilia_ET&hash=item35db01c002
