this is the thread where I stand up, again, and thank EVERYONE involved in the tat auction on the saturday evening
thanks to everyone who donated tat, wacky mick for the very shiny exhaust, james (bjorn) for the autosport show tickets, nomad pete for the HUGE box of tat, phil 2002gimp for the trike, pauldaf for the triumph stuff, davenger for the haynes and the spoilers and everyone else who chucked stuff in
thanks to all who bid, won, and paid for the wibblepoo they bought - some of the bids were unbelievable!
thanks to dez and bruce for book-keeping all the bids and collecting the cash, al for being my glamorous assistant again
we raised a huge wedge of cash, £1253 is what I have here, but there may be a bit more to come
few things - if you bid, and didn't pay for your items can you get in touch, I think bruce or dez has the list, so they can let me know if we have any more money to come in?
location - I screwed up slightly here, by using the campsite rather than the venue, sorry david - we'll work on a possible different site for it next year, but it will DEFINATELY be happening again, so get saving your tat and pennies!
and as a total aside, thanks very much to the chap (you know who you are) who decided to help himself to the HID's out of my newly bought and paid for mx-5 headlamps (luckily you were seen and told - thanks rich) - and also, I don't know if you, or someone else chanced upon a pair of wheel adaptors that were near my lamps, but I'd quite like them back too - they were near the leather seats and mx5 hardtop in the campsite - I fully understand skip diving for tat, but I think it was pretty obvious that those parts weren't abandoned / dumped
- only thing left is to divvy up the wedge, so we've pretty much decided to split it between a large chunk to a cancer charity in memory of donttellhimpike john, chevazon, and I'm sure there have been a few other forum members taken from us by cancer, and a number of smaller charities
- and that's where you guys come in, I'd like suggestions, with good reasons, of charities that might well benefit from 100-150-200 quid being sent their way
stick suggestions on here as a reply, and I'll get the ball rolling
CHEERS TO ALL - kfw

Horrible to see that some items were taken at the campsite hope you get the bits back. With regard to the charities, can i suggest Macmillan, as they do some amazing work caring for cancer victims.

Is it worth punting some of the money towards a motor racing marshalling/safety organisation? I've found this with a quick google but maybe someone has a more direct connection to a suitable organisation?

so pleased to be involved with this. i still cant believe we took in so much dollar. i think we were down like £10 on unpaid bids. not even worth worrying about, we took significantly more than that in people overpaying/not wanting change. there was only i think 3 people outstanding on the night due to lack of cash machines in the vacinity, and two of them paid bruce on sunday i think. personally i think having it in the evening on the campsite makes it, more or less the entire campsite emptied out to see what was going in. its an event for the otherwise eventless saturday. plus, think how much less we would have took if everyone was sober id like most if not all of it to go to one or more cancer charities, as its touched my family as well as forum members. only other thing id be keen to see it go towards is something to do with rehabilitating stroke victims, my grandad had physio and stuff after his first one and it helped him regain mobility no end.

Macmillan (as already mentioned) or regional charities where our "smaller" donations should make more impact - St Oswalds www.stoswaldsuk.org is very well thought of around Tyneside, not sure who covers other areas. Keep up the good work!

some gr8 suggestions chaps so far pandaselcta - not 100% sure the wheel spacers were nicked, I might have left em behind in the chaos of putting 12 wheels, two leather seats and the rest of my curse word into a slammed e36 - or they might be in the recesses of the boot! the headlights were deffo being in the act of being part souveniered though sadly let's keep the charidee ideas coming guys!

The tat auction was tbh better imo for being on the campsite because it occurred concurrent to from what I could see, my good friends, myself and most of the crowd gathered being at exactly the 'off the wagon' level where we all for excellent charitable reasons forgot how much money is worth and how little value exceedingly good tat retains but additionally for the benefit of charitable reasons remembered what we bought, and had presence of mind to pay so ingenious timing ! any earlier and it would have resulted in less rabble rousing bidding activity I believe and too late would have been an obviously something else probably
one thing with the charitable side to it, forgive the inpertinence of the suggestion but in a way surely the cash would be more efficient being injected into a heavyweight or known to be effective cancer charity etc as a lump rather than funding many small ones possibly only being enough to make a clerical impact as small snippets of cash although on second though I guess which ever way it still does make a positive push collectively "thinks out loud" etc
[edit] one being reminded of Macmillan by PS I concur from experiences 10years ago they are beyond amazing! [edit]

It's a shame someone felt the need to try and steal, that's not what the gathering is about. Lucky he was seen!

Don't forget (how could you ) Al modelling the items - he does seem to have a liking for big spoilers On the plus side, there was no mankini performances this year (thankfully - Google will show if the good-taste filters have wiped last years pics from the web ) Same time next year everyone?

If you're intent on a local charity to Shelsley, might I suggest St.Richards Hospice. They do so much valuable work supporting those suffering from cancer (and other life-threatening illnesses) and their families in Worcestershire. A HUGE pat on the back to all who dug deep and contributed either tat or funds, and of course to KFW for organising it. Stuff like this is what keeps RR such a great community.

Awesome work as ever Kev.
As discussed on Sat night, please could I put forward a charity called 'Friends of Warmley Park' as one of the beneficiaries of the auction?
I'll edit/expand on this tomorrow when I'm not on my phone but just wanted to put it into the public domain now?
Thanks again Dude and also to everyone who helped with the auction, donated parts and also those that bid all that money. Humbling stuff.

What about Balls to Cancer, who started out as a charity focusing on male cancers, but now also help families who are hit by the big C. Right now they're working to send families to a caravan that they have bought... ballstocancer.co.uk/www.facebook.com/Ballstocancer

Thanks to you guys it was definately one of my personal highlights of the weekend. It was worth the drive over from Germany just to see you in action or should i say auction Looks like i´ll have to rebuild our trailer so that we can bring over some tat next year. Hope your stuff turns up mate, can´t believe one of us nicked somme of your kit Hope you got back home in one piece without getting pulled. P.S. i think doing the tat auction on the camping site makes more sense than elsewhere - there was quite a bit of stuff added during the auction that wouldn´t have happened if it´d been over in the Paddock.

First time camping for me and first tat auction.
I do like a good auction me, but I'm still not sure why I bought a subwoofer not more than a couple of hours after offloading a couple to Matt *facepalm*
Most enjoyable entertainment for the saturday evening, and I shall be sure to bring more cash for the next one!
(My kids were a bit disappointed that there wasn't room to pitch up their chairs though!)

Another amazing bit of fund raising Kev. I'm waiting for ice and snow to be the envy of my whole road with the BP ice scraper! Gotta agree about keeping it on the campsite, we got there just before it started and the crowds grew all the time as people heard it happening from their tents. Maybe we need to get a flood light for the end so we're not scrabbling round using mobile phone torches to find the tat! As for charities, does anyone have any contact with the families of the forum members we've lost this year to ask if they have a preferred cancer charity. From a personal point, www.stroke.org.uk/ would be a worthwhile cause too.

This was great fun! Well done to all involved. I agree with Speedman about lighting - that would help matters later in the auction. I also agree that it should stay on the campsite if possible.
ChasR bought the Ford steering wheel I think.
