Don't know about you but the combination of San Miguel and cheese before bed leads me to have some extremely vivid and sometime Daliesque dreams. So I've written you a poem to try and communicate the magnitude of the epiphany (along with the melting clocks and elephants on stilts). I can attest to the dream inducing qualities of San Mig although whether this is enhanced by the addition of cheese, I can't say. Generally the San Mig consumption precludes finding the kitchen, let alone the fridge and its contents. However, I don't feel that my dream subjects would make suitable material for poems or inclusion on this board. Yours however seem inspired and if you can sort the transmission issue, appear to solve multiple problems. The LR transfer box has merit as well. Please keep up the great work; this and the transporter thread are amongst my favorites on here!

Hi, can I suggest using a Land Rover transfer box? It will easily take the 150 bhp, the shaft going forward turns the right way for the reversed axle and has the PTO 'hole' to install your electric reverse arrangement. colin and low range spridjet will be useful for towing

Thanks for that I shall read it tonight. He's also got a great sense of humour "We had a grand plan for getting as much donated motor oil track side as we could. That turbine will run on pretty much anything other than water. When I suggested fuelling it with kittens so we can make a rainbow coloured exhaust, I had things thrown at me."

i think. despite the ingenuity, getting over taken by everything at LeMons including a volvo 245 shooting brake, was probably the reason why he moved onto turbine

With no Goddess this weekend due to Dangerous moving into his new unit I got a few hours on the Rover pumpsets and the SpridJET. The job at the moment is to strip the roller shell so it can be blasted and the rust repairs started. Today after finishing what i could on the pumpsets I got started. This is how it started. Wiper motor & wheelboxes out, bonnet hinges removed, boot lid removed, screen removed, dash and instruments removed How it was left Over the next few weeks I'll strip the rest of the shell and make a roller frame for the shell and while that's away being stripped and blasted I'll get on with renovating the running gear. Think we have a candidate for the reduction drive off the back of the turbine. It's an aluminium cased 5:1 single stage box that will need some uprated bearings with forced lubrication and probably a small oil cooler. The reduction will give a maximum of 9200 rpm giving a theoretical 157mph for starters.

We need more mental cars You could try a nuclear reactor next

Have you thought about putting a front wheel drive gearbox (something like an old fiesta 4 speed) on the back of it, lock up the diff and take the drive forwards under the turbine to the original axle from what would have been the right hand drive shaft, you would get a reverse gear and potentially could include the clutch to disengage the driveline if required.

Managed to get some time in stripping the SpridJET as the project is starting to move again Boot lid, steering column and dash out Pedal box removed. May have two braking systems so may use the clutch pedal for a brake on the free power turbine Front wheels off. Anyone want to swap a wire wheel setup for a steel wheel setup? Made a start on the front suspension but can't find my ball joint splitter (sons ) I had some problems with the old Philips screws holding on the door hinges so having been bombarded with adverts over Christmas I invested in these After use I'll give it 5 out of 10 as it got half the stuck screws out One of the things holding up the project is lack of an ignition source for the turbine. More colloquially called a 'Bang Box', its typically powered from a 24v DC supply and has an output of around 2Kv. The spark energy is in the range of 3 to 12 Joules and the peak current can be as high as a 1000 Amps although this is only for a duration of a few microseconds. It's not something you want to get a jolt from I've been on a promise of an ignitor for the last 3 months but its always maƱana so I've bitten the bullet and bought a couple of NOS KLG turbine engine ignitor plugs as below. These are surface discharge ignition sources. I'm going to try some of the Chinese EBay ignition sources and see if the combo can ignite a kero spray. At eight whole Queen's pounds it's not much of a futile investment. The spark! So while we are waiting for China Post I took the ignitor and lead from the turbine to check it for problems Ignitor and locking tube End of the ignitor. Needs a clean. One end of the cable, Can take a lot of current and volts. The full cable and ignitor assembly With sparks under way I have to think of fuel and oil services. For fuel I'll use one of the Rover pumps' diesel tanks and I'm trying to work out if I can use one of these old dry sump tanks for the oil. More later

Always good to see some progress on this. That spark's something else! The thread loaded the first page of this, and reading "now that the goddess is finished..." made me chuckle - surely you of all people should know that a project's never finished! At best it's just luring you into a false sense of completion with a lack of breakdowns or obvious improvements, just to give you the space to one day say "hang on, I've had an an idea"

The spark! Maybe you should pass this onto Stigian for his flame throwing exhausts?

Great to see this has seen some good progress even with the Goddess troubles you've been having.
With the hinge screws, can you get access to drill the head off? Then, wioth the hinge out of the way there ought to be enough of the screw sticking out the A pillar to weld a nut to for extra heat and leverage to remove the remainder.
