Pic Update. The engine is sitting on mounts. It's where it needs to be. I still have to build a gearbox support, and finish the motor mounts, minor details in the engine bay. The bonnet closes, but only just. I'm afraid I'll give it a little hood scoop so the engine doesn't hit the underneath of the hood when running. What did Paul Woods call it? "A Power Bulge", yeah- that. This car sits SO HIGH in the front end. I'm going to lower it slightly when I find some used wheels and tires. Still a lot of weight to install in the car. I'll deal with ride height at the end.

Engine looks right at home in that bay, but i think you should try and find a way around making a power bulge, maybe slimming the engine mounts to drop the engine a bit, or changing the plenum slightly. keeps the car looking stock and a bit of a sleeper

By the time this thing is done, it's going to look like an 80's rally car. They'll be no disguising the fact that it's meant to hoon.

In that case, big vinyl mud flaps and leave the ride height!
You've done a good job of squeezing that motor in there though. Should be a bit of fun.
With the hood off and from the front three quarters angle, it made me ask myself.. "What came first, this or the DeLorean DMC-12?".

Yeah- this thing is a cross between a Delorean, an Aston Lagonda, the back tail lights off of a 1982 Mustang and an old BMW 3 series side panels. It's certainly a mixed breed, what with the Lexus engine and if I had to- Audi suspension if this Maserati stuff is junk or impossible to find. Crazy!- this post I just typed has made mention of 7 different cars. What a Mutt...

Crazy shizzle. Can't even remember when I saw any old Lexus round my way in the UK, wanted to get an engine and store it ....." just in case " :-D I don't think I've ever seen one of those Massers in the flesh though either, mad vision.

Thank you sirs. I see it's been nominated in the Year end mentions. SUPER COOL. Now I can tell my friends that other people think it's a good idea, as I do. I'm basically a fuel pump, some fuel line and the engine wiring away from giving this thing a test fire. It's not plumbed for cooling yet or anything, really- I just want to figure out how to start it. I'm going to start reading up on that tonight. The GM Hydroboost is freaking HUGE and I have to mount it basically sideways to get it to clear the cam cover. The brake fluid reservoirs will have to be level, so you can fill them, but then the bolts don't line up. I have to make some adapters and bolt the thing together, somehow. The Ford Mustang Hydroboost units are impossible to find unless you buy new, and used BMW ones are also elusive in the states. This GM unit- it'll barely fit, if I can even pull it off. The pictures are from my phone, I'll use a real camera on the next update.

What's wrong with a normal brake cylinder and remote servo? Is there no vacuum take of on the engine? Am I missing something completely here? So many questions, so little time!

The standard brake booster will not fit in the space. The engine hits it.

I don't think that's been a popular thing here.. if memory serves, some sort of legal schpizz about a single hydraulic point of failure in the single system from pedal to booster being nun/kitten unfriendly.

Phil Ah, right. Thanks for the clarification Phil. Good luck to grenade getting one of those in there. But I have faith!

Could you offset the booster/servo and master cylinder unit and use an actuation rod assembly back to the pedal?
Or if you moved the lot to the left you have more room for the throttle pedal too. win win?
Cool cars. Looking forward to seeing this hit the deck though.

Phil lol. nice post. Could you fit two boosters to get around that? He's rebuilding the car practically so running 2 circuits to opposite corners wouldn't be impossible. Also ive seen a brake booster with a really long mounting, cant recall what car. Like this but twice as long..... c.

Awesome, thanks! I'm looking into the remote servo because the laws around here? If it has headlights, indicators, brake lights, a windshield and seat belts- it's road legal.

Actually, I am going to do this: Seems simple and cost is almost free, because I have this stuff already.
