Here's a site I used to spend a lot of time on: www.drccentral.com/ (currently comes up with an IPS Driver Error on the forum). I would probably go for a used car, at least to start with.

The video you posted there is from 2011, a lot has changed since then when it comes to detail on the cars. There have been threads on here in the past and there have been a few drift cars at RRG over the years. Have some more videos: ^ I like the last one cause it doesn't have any stupid action figures

I'm ridiculously hooked on RC drifting. There's a place in Northampton called Soul RC with a dedicated carpet track. I try and go once a week, and I'll be going in for the comp at the end of the month, just for a bit of fun The shells I run... An action shot from a comp in November. Here's my little car at the moment. And a little video my friend filmed of me running last Wednesday night. I started with my MST MS-01 after about a week with an old touring car on drift tyres. It's definitely worth spending the extra money for a dedicated drift chassis as it will have all the adjustment you need. I'd say to go MST (Max Speed Technology), they're products are brilliant and the guys who run the UK distribution are so helpful. www.soulrc.com This is what I started with, and slowly upgraded. They do a brushless version now which saves upgrading the motor and ESC so soon. www.maxspeedtechnology.co.uk/mst-ms-01d-rtr-all-body-options.html

Tamiya tt01 all the way. Prices range from £100 upwards. I would post photos of my old tt01 skyline but I'm on the iPad and it's curse word with forums and photos. Have a generic photo - still cool though...

Damn, this thread is going to end up costing me a few quid.
I've been using Genki Dori Dori for years, it was a great site and they always had great service, but just now (when I was going to link it) I found out that it's not been around since 2013!
Funny how in 2012 I went in to my local RC store and asked about drifty stuff the 45 year old virgin who lives with his mum guy behind the counter got all uppity and started saying they wont stock it because of XYZ and how it's not proper RC racing. Well the other day I spotted a bunch of stuff in his window so it must be a nice little earner for him now. Would be great if it got popular enough for a few local tracks and decent stockists to start popping up.
I can't wait to sort mine out properly, I only use it for about 20 minutes every year!

Another one. Not sure where you are abased but a few tracks around the UK that you can drift on. Was at a new one last night which was great fun. You can spend anything from £150-£800 on a chassis. I would suggest trying to get to a local track and have a chat and have a go with someones car and then see what you want to buy. I run a MST XXX-D HT VIP and the chassis alone is £500, but it drifts so nice. Try Soul RC for dedicated drift cars. I'll be there next Saturday. Anyway, some pics of mine The Chassis Final Pic at Soul RC

Ah, I was running with you up a Soul a few months ago. I had the goldish/pinky Pandora C35 shell. Posted further up Where was the new track you ran at? I'd like to try some new tracks.

On forum I was on a year ago had loads of info on it. To be honest, spending £500-£800 on an rc car is madness. Some guys on that forum just used a tamiya tl-01 chassis with blue tac in the diffs. Then the only thing you need to buy then it the drift wheels/tyres. I think the tt-01 chassis is a belt drive chassis. I have a few tt-01 chassis running and find them to be quite tough as they are shaft drive. IIRC you only need blue tac in the rear diff.

I had a TL01 with a moved bevel gear (locked rear diff) and drift tyres and it was good because it got me into drifting. But I outgrew it very, very quickly. It's more power sliding than drifting. You want to be looking at CS (counter steer) chassis to be drifting. Like the MST or Yokomoko drift packages.

It sounds like the sort of attitude John at Mick Charles Models would adopt! I used to go there for absolutely everything R/C related but his attitude towards customers in general eventually put me off the place. It's a shame really as his Brother who runs the boats and planes section is a nice bloke as was Mick Charles when he was alive.

I see what you are saying regarding price but. They are worlds apart, with tt01 you can't get enough lock, can't get CS, well you can but more hassle than its worth. A dedicated drift chassis and a tt01 are worlds apart. Like most things you get what you pay for.

I've had a few different drift chassis over the years but the best i ever bought was a yokomo mr4-tc. quite a bit like a tt01 in it's layout, but a tt01 is the best bet for a starter drift car, go with a stock used chassis on ebay and save yourself the depreciation sting.

I have an old TL-01, with a locked rear diff, one-way front, uprated motor and sport tuned gears it drifts pretty well. Had a play at RRG'14 in the paddock on Saturday afternoon.

I've got an old tamiya TAo3f in the garage that I bought of ebay a few years ago and never used due to not get round to getting the radio gear and batteries. I've heard that these can be converted for drifting which I might do. It a strange one as its belt driven 4wd and the motor is front mounted. Currently has a Opel calibra shell on it in white and yellow I think!
