Instead of cutting into the monocoque chassis it would need some kind of box put in place, larger than the original trunk. I have no idea (yet) about the sidewalls, stock fenders and rearlights wouldn't work IMHO. The box should be integrated more. And it's not going to end up in a fully practical work horse. I was more thinking about something fun-ish like the Chevy SSR, but without wide fenders. Speaking of fenders: You could use the front fenders as they are, without the plastic arches. "Simply" hammer and weld the holes for the plastic arches flat and add something (?) to the front end. Would leave plenty of room for really chunky wheels. You can then add whatever front end design You like, my suggestion here is a curved metal bumper (beetle? fiat 500?) and some general round head lights, not the new edge ford plastic monstrosities. And as said before, rear fenders should integrate the pickup bed. After all, wasn´t it You who replaced the unfindable rear bumper of the scorpio with a wooden plank? That was out-of-the-box thinking that should be applied here, too! (IMHO) Just found this in the Mark-Bognor-Thread:

No, had suggested a pickup conversion last summer and only now found the mazda pic.
But PP has already stated this won't happen.

I can't decide if this is some sort of photoshop witchcraft or not... Oh wow is this what could happen to the StreetKa? No, had suggested a pickup conversion last summer and only now found the mazda pic. But PP has already stated this won't happen. Yeah, sorry to disappoint you Nath, but as braaap has already pointed out, that won't be happening to the StreetKa, sorry. However, if someone wants to give me a half decent MX-5 I'm willing to give it a go!

Just can't remember which half was decent and which was plop. The decent parts are either fitted to, or are about to be fitted to, the Rockit. The rest is now in the chrysalis stage: it's waiting to turn into a beautiful pile of bean tins

Been waiting for an update! Don't forget, people who aren't enthusiasts will just see the badge and not understand it cost less than their transit, saw it time and time again. A family member sold a fiesta a while ago and had a few different cars, ended up in a BMW 1 series which had been to the moon and back and failed its MOT a few months later. They think the BMW was the better car but the fiesta still flies through it's MOT's, BMW cost ÂŁ200 less. I feel for you on the fuel front, I have a hire car at the minute (mitsibushi atrage with a CVT), I need to fill it up but it goes back in a few days, thankfully here a full tank of fuel is only ÂŁ14 or so without the need to actually out fuel in yourself, the family car costs ÂŁ30 to tank and the 15mpg average does make me reconsider my choice, but if you consider I'm paying 1/3rd of UK fuel prices I look at it as a 3.5 v6 which does (UK) 45mpg

Just catching up after a while.. I feel like I've missed some important information about a secret hideout and a girlfriend.. maybe it's in the blog somewhere as I only read what you post here.
The GT took me by surprise! I was going to point out that if the winter gets too cold, you can use the GT instead of the central heating, but with how much fuel it uses... Probably not!

I'm not sure that I've ever really gone into it in great detail, but I could elaborate further if there was any great interest, although, probably not all that car related, and probably not all that exciting either. As for living in the GT to keep warm, well, it is double glazed, but I think it might be cheaper to just go out and buy a new house that has working heating in it already. They've got new staff at the petrol station I use, and I'm already on a first name basis with them all. I think I may be their best customer!

pistonpopper I also own a Continental. They're very robust; generally nothing to worry about, especially the engine. Don't buy Pirelli tyres for it as they're awful and expensive. If you need tyres buy Michelin Pilot Sport 4S - night and day better, also a lot cheaper.

Thanks for the advise maf260 I apreciate that and I'll keep it in mind. However, to be honest theres plenty of tread on the tyres it's got, so I'm hoping that I'll not need to replace them at all.

Love story of the year! Glad it's looking so good underneath. When I started a new job over here a few years ago I pressure washed actual growing plants out of the chassis of the works hilux! People generally don't seem to care about any car other than their own (and some people not even their own).
I also had a verbal altercation with a woman who thought it OK to open her car into my van a couple of years ago and genuinely couldn't understand why I was annoyed. Like yourself I just wouldn't dream of touching anyone else's car. Same for kids at motorshows crawling over things, and actually kids in general. And people in general...

Kids at car shows crawling over other peoples cars... It really bugs me that their parents let them do it, I can remember taking my kids to wheels day when they were toddlers, adn of course they wanted to touch the cars. But I told them not to, and they never did, and still don't to this day. Mind you, that being said I've seen adults perching on the bonnets of other peoples cars at car shows so that they can get a photo of themselves with the car. I know a fella who used to have a beach buggy and he used to say that when he'd take it out he'd often come back to people sitting in it having their photos taken. I just can't imagine doing that to someones car. Like you I have also had someone open their door onto my car while I was in it. I was in my XR4i about 20 years ago, and it was pretty tidy too. But this fella parked up next to me in his brand new Micra, he was pretty big, infact he pretty much filled the front of his Micra, but as he got out he banged the door of his car against mine as he rocked himself to get out he banged it against mine again. I rolled the window down and had a right old moan to which he just said, what does it matter, it's just an old car. I said yeah, but it's my old car. He just shrugged his shoulders and wandered off. He just didn't get it,a nd how do you get through to someone like that? So many people have no love and respect for their own cars, so they'll never give anyone elses a thought. I've thought for a very long time that if you're not into cars then you shouldn't be allowed to own and drive one. I reckon that way the roads would be safer, because everyone driving on them would be doing it in something they care about.

I was at a wedding a few years ago, they had hired a large luxury car for it, but one of the grooms friends worked for the same luxury carmaker, when his boss found out he was going to a wedding he was actually given a brand new car to use for the weekend (120+ mile away)
Basically the large luxury brand liked to put a few miles on the cars before they are sold as a majority of them go to chauffeurs etc.
Guy was great, happy for the kids to climb over it and play on the TV screens, his attitude was 'if it breaks for a little kid it will break for the client which is bad for reputation'
Mine had both been told to stay well clear and when they did go inside the treated it nicely, but other kids where standing on the seats etc, hard to watch!

I like the old wheels.
I also have a bum about your numbers. The white doesn't work so much for me. I think you should get a can of black paint, waft it over the top of your numbers, and then peel the numbers off, leaving a blown in stencil look.
If you don't like it, it'll probably come off with a bit of claybar.
I still like the numbers, mind.
