I have seen this car in the flesh as I went to buy it on Saturday and had full intention of taking it until my insurance company decided they would throw a spanner in the works.
The condition surprised me for the age and asking price, the engine was quiet form start up and the seller was very upfront and good enough to take me out on a lenghty test drive where it performed with no clunks or knocks.
Another thing to mention is that when researching common faults for these engines the standard plastic impeller water pumps are said to be a potential problem that can lead to big problems if they fail. This car has documented history of a recent water pump replacement for added piece of mind.
I've no vested interest in this car, but as decent as as the guy was and as gutted as I was not to take it I thought id add a positive tuppance worth.
All the best with the sale Jon.

Stone me, that's a steal!
mk1 Mondeo - rare v6 manual - rare lack of interstellar mileage - rare intact bumpers - rare ...and it's cheap!!!
All the best, I'm shrinking my fleet otherwise I'd be there.

RR bargain of the week. Looks in sweet condition too.

Thanks for the kind words.
I found out now that its replacement arrives on Thursday so for simplicity I'd like it gone.
Dropped to a faintly mad £350.
Turns out a V6 over the driven wheels is also good in snow.

I honestly think you have priced this far too low!
If I was in the market I would snap your hand off at the price, the interior reminds me a being in my Dads old one, same colour, except his was a 5 door 2.0 litre. which he replaced with a white ST24.
A lot of happy miles in Mk1 Mondeos as a teenager!
Good Luck finding a new custodian.

IMHO I find it is just priced slightly above the market. The start of the year is always hard to shift a car and the market for a non-premium big-engined gasoline vehicle is pretty thin. It will probably go to a Ford enthusiast, free bump and GLWS. To all prospective buyers, the Duractec V6 is not as juicy as you think and if the IMRC is fine it will blow a lot of stuff in the weeds. I used to have a phase 2 V6 sedan, weight reduxed, debadged and make to look (almost) like a CVPI. Loads of fun.

Low miles, top model, and probably quite a rare find these days now too. That's not overpriced for any decent MOT'd car, let alone something that's quite interesting!

I bought and sold around 50 cars since I've moved here and a lot of them have been gasoline large-displacement (for Europe) sedans (3 Mondeo V6, 1 Cougar V6, 1 Legend V6, 2 Xantia V6, 1 406 V6, 1 Laguna V6, 1 Safrane V6, 2 E36's, 3 E46's, 3 E39's, 2 W210's, 1 Maxima V6, 1 Passat V6 B5.5, 2 Seat Toledo V5, 1 Jetta V5 (ZA) and I'm sure I forgot a couple of them. Take the BMW's, the Mercedes and the VAG's out of the equation and all of these were around the 300 to 400 mark.
So although I agree that it's rare and that it's appealing to us, to the man on the street it's just another old Mondeo with, in his mind, scary gas mileage.
I've owned three of these, the cheapest one cost me 195 and the most expensive one 255. The one I posted above cost 200. Seems harsh but that's the reality of the market.
In any case GLWS to the OP, it is a great underrated car and all 3 I owned were as reliable as Corollas.

If the one you posted above cost £200, then £350 for the car in the advert looks even cheaper.
GLWTS OP, sorry for adding to the spam drivel.

If the question of price was being brought up for the very similar £1500 dealer advertised one, then maybe there's a point... but even then it's a small one. When you get down to saying a car is £100 or £50 over the market value then it's getting really silly. Of course to your average punter who just wants personal transport the car here would be an odd choice.... but did you notice you're on Retro Rides? I think you could say the same for 90% of the cars on here!

I can't believe someones trying to explain why this cars overpriced! It's £350 and that's a proper bargain. The V6 lump in these is a great engine and the Mk1 Mondeos are starting to get collectable.
With a decent set of wheels fitted that will be a cracking car for somebody. GLWTS.

Thanks for the awesome discussion Funny you mention the wheels, I've been resisting a set of alloys with tyres that are on ebay at the moment, £80+£40 postage. Would go great with this. Anyway, just to say I was asked about the tyres and I thought I'd better get the tread depth gauge on them. It turns out they are better than I thought/remembered. Ad updated above. Cheers, Jon

Sold for a pittance for the sake of domestic bliss ('you're not wasting any more time trying to sell that car!', I paraphrase, slightly).

Sadly, it went to someone who's looking to tidy it up and make a profit on it. But he was here, with cash, and my wife wanted rid. I will be on the lookout for it up for sale again soon at a vastly higher price. Good luck to the chap, he was pleasant enough.

No offense to those who blasted me for saying it was priced above market, but *cough* I told you so.
OP I feel your pain, it took me 2 months to shift the Xantia V6 at the price I wanted.

Actually he sold it quickly due to his swmbo, it wasn't over priced at all, and the fact someone has bought it to sell on, proves that the car is worth more, otherwise the buyer wouldn't have bought it.
Also KGF have sold their mondeo which was similar condition but a much lower spec, and that was up for either £1295 or £1495.
