I've been suffering quite badly with this since I spotted this at WheelsDay. Yes it has a cage and yes it sounded amazing. Also saw this the other day, didn't help at all:

I much preferred Golden Wonder to Walkers, partly because the factory was just up the road from me so as a child I had access to virtually unlimited Sausage & Tomato flavour crisps via the seconds outlet shop, and mainly because the colours on the packets are the right way round! I love this photo: Rover SD1 3500 SE by PaulWestYorks, on Flickr

guess I'm one of the lucky people really owned 11 yes eleven Sd1 V8 manuals in cluding a twin turbo janspeed, went like stink took 3 weeks to stop it!! eventually did the jag conversion on the brakes, still wasnt the best but a hell of a lot of fun! and surprisingly economical, till you were playing with the loud pedal

Wish they had built a coupe. My dad used to have a SD1 2600 in brown.

I bought a tatty early V8 as a banger (full mot) as a run around. Loved it so much I tried to find a mint one as well but got sidetracked into buying a XJ40 instead. Early ones rot but in a way I prefer them to the later. Mine died after mate borrowed and ripped exhaust off on speed hump. Sounded wonderful though Engine lived on in my MGB GT. If you get the chance of even a semi decent one "go for it". Doesn't have to be the V8 as the problem (oil starvation to head) with the straight six is now sortable and the 2.6 is supposed to be a nice engine.

SPECIALIST DIVISION ONE These are superb beasts. The ONLY cool car my dad ever had was a V8 series 1 VdP in that dark gold colour (Like this one) Just perfect... Leather seats, air con, cruise, all the toys. And the noise. My god, the noise.
