Now then ! Listen carefully cos i will say theeese only wonce ! One of my neighbours , a french girl ,, was asking me ,"bhut roberrr , ow are yu going to feeeet theeese how do you say ieeet ,gazzz vallve ? oiu ??" i said , "come and have a look in the batcave and i will show you my fittings" ,she responded ,"but robbeerr ,,,you know i allways get dirty in the garage !?" I went and had a lie down . Anyrdup , after Evette had wriggled off , i spent some time today with the whole valves malarky . The valves look like this ,as you may remember if following closely and not just using the thread as a sleep aid .. so , i wopped one on the lathe of goodness , and turned down the inner diameter.. then tapped it out m16x1mm...as you can see ,not a lot of metal to play with .. i then cut the original pipe fitting down to fit the length i needed.. and fitted it to the t piece.. and then popped it on the car .. so that prototype worked , so i made another 3 , and i will make more tomorrow . do you know , that pipe was so thin , as i tapped it you could see the tap moving a swollen line down the outside , like a snake swallowing a frisbee.(face on ) regards robert.

I love her long bonnet your virility scares me mark . bonjour mes amigo's . yesterday i machined my rings .. these sit in the trumpets ,and create a bit of a restriction , making the lpg flow with greater enthusiasm from the mixers ..mounted just downstream . the reason i machined them was ,with them at 25mm , i had no way of getting engine 2 leaner ,even with the flow valve shut , so now i have opened them up from 25mm to 28mm , i will have less draw on the mixers and can open the valve a little and have a range of adjustment . on the 3.6 i had about 1/2 a turn to get a reasonable mix , so i only opened these ones up to 27mm , also more suitable since its a smaller engnie ,with less airflow . next, today i reassembled my steering assemblies.. all went well , and i now have a longer bolt so i can lower them further if i want to , i shall see how whibbly wobbly the steering feels with the design as it is , and then if not good i will fit and weld another arm below . next i pulled the plugs from the front engine to see how badly missmanaged the mixture is on this little puppy .. well !!!! lordluvvaduck !!!! apples and pears !! looks pretty blimmen spot on i must say , although i will still do the thermocouples on there to see if i need separate flow valves . er , one slight problem .. close up of a few ... see that slivery part on the plugs ? i have a fair idea that's aluminium from the pistons , so that last load of runs on 28d timing was a bit too much on 11.6:1 even with 110 octane lpg. so hopefully all is still fairly ok in the cylinders , and i can back the timing off , i think i may make a wheel to go round the dizzy's and an indicator needle on it with a fixed scale , at the moment ,1mm of dizzy movement is two degrees , so its hard to gauge it all . next time in the dyno i will back both engines off to 20 , then do steady state torque pulls at 3000 rpm , gradually increasing the timing on each engine separately until i find the best non det place , the front i guess will end up around 24 ,and the rear 25. time will tell ! i thought on the last 3 runs in the video with the slipping clutch it sounded very knocktastic , now i know it was ! regards robert.

Well , today i did something i have never done before on the car . i only went and buffed it up with some fine wire wool . those bare metal mudguards took a bit of wet and dry sanding first to get rid of the pubescent rust markings , but i am really happy with how it all came up ,have a dekko.. mudguards looking less orange and more medieval amour .. round the nooks and crannys .. and the whole thing .... i had not realised how grubby and oxidized it was , so this was treat to see it a little cleaner . regards robert.

Hasta la vista ! Well , my crank hub came undone again, so i have been pondering a way to stop my big bolt coming undone . My theory is that ,when the engine kicks back on cranking , it is so violent it shocks the pulley round the shaft a few mm , and that undoes the bolt ...once the bolt is undone , the taper pressure on the hub relaxes ,and the hub then moves a little bit now and again ,there is no sign of heat on the hub , so i don't think it was spinning at all. i pondered drilling down the joining line and putting a pin or two in ,but with the hub, the taper collet ,and the crank all there i would need a 12mm hole to bridge them all ..not good . SO, Plan 782 from outer space involved me cutting a slot in the hub face like this .. and i then researched crank pins and woodruff keys to see what material spec they were made from ... seems generally its en8 steel . this has a tensile strength of 800 mpa ,, so i checked out 12.9 grade bolt steel ,and its T.S. is 1200 Mpa .50 % more . I found a bolt and made this .. to fit like so .. Previous to this , i had hoicked out an old rusty crankshaft , and experimented with cutting and slotting it , and it worked well to use the thin disc to mark the lines ,then the grinding disc with a rounded edge to make the plunge cut , then finish by hand file ..so that's the mission for today .Once that's done i can shape the key to be a tight fit ,then i will weld the key to the hub and face it off so it does not interfere with the bolt face . In other news .. Ages ago i sent pictures of the car , pre mot i think it was , to a subscribers cars competition run by Sarah of Sarah-n-tuned youtube car channel , and won an award . Well stuff me like a gerkin and call me beatrice , if the award , a goldish bucket ,didn't only arrived by post yesterday !! ...so i made a spontaneous inboxing video . (Rest assured it maintains my customary qualities of shakyness ,out of focusness ,and not even pointing at the thing at all ness.) Right time to get out there and start hacking away at my crank . regards robert

THank you Grizz, absolutely , a cup of earl grey for veronica to sip ? So , groove cut free hand in the crank with the thick disc ,and pin filed bit by bit till its a tight fit .here's a pic with the pin tapped into place but still proud of the surface and not shortened yet .. next was to file the pin till it was the right height out of the groove ,and shorten it ,the pin ended up like this .. then fitted and tapped in .. and how it looks with the spare bolt on it .. i spent a lot of time filing the crank to be dead square in the slot ,and have enough room for the key to move further into the crank as the bolt is done up , i am very happy with how it turned out , that 12.9 steel takes a while to file though. in other news , i did this .. yup , finally fitted a tap to the 2nd gas feed for engine 2 , so now i have lots of adjustment. more larks tomorrow when i try to put it all back together . regards robert

Just an idea for Medusa Evo 2 802 , i think they normally use a couple of sprockets and a chain wrapped round them , i wanted a bit more give , so went for the rubber jurid coupling instead (also a lot lot cheaper) Why the jaunty angle on the new pin, Robert? so it was pretty tristan Aaahhhhh.....
