That car is a thing of beauty - what model is it? Toyota Celica TA22, Gen 1 phase 2 with bubble lights, early cars had and were known as 'flat lights' One day mine will hopefully look as good, As above! Quite a common site at the shows in Australia and still somewhat affordable compared with other Japanese classics. I'll post a separate thread sometime with a few show reviews - apologies for the derailment Johny!

Got it unboxed Genuine new,old stock, never been raced or rallied left inner fender. That’s everything new forwards of the firewall, with the exception of the chassis legs, which aren’t a problem to fabricate. Been an absolute nightmare to get it here. Not from the shipping side. That, couldn’t have been simpler or cheaper. 😊. Found a thread on here with somebody asking how to get parts Stateside to Blighty. One recommendation was Ron at STS imports, and boy does that man deliver. Top class. Shameless plug for him. Couldn’t have been easier and it probably would have cost more to get the part from Europe. He brings in containers from the US roughly every six weeks. You get your pre- packed parts sent to his agent in the States, and he works out a price due to the volume your part takes up in the container. You pay that, the VAT and 3% import duty on arrival and it’s done. Top bloke. Top service. How else could you get something this size and weight from Florida to Essex for £70? 😳👍👍 So. The nightmare part you ask? The seller.... A well known name in Rotary circles in the States. I paid the invoice within an hour. Over a month later I was still listening to his campfire stories as to why it had not been packed up and delivered to STS imports. Eventually I lost my rag and got a friend in the States involved. Don’t know what Lance said or did, but it got his attention 🤣🤣🤣. Maybe asked if he believed in God? Would he like to meet him? Lance, shall we say, does have a way with words 😉 All packed and delivered to STS imports the following day🤣🤣. Don’t like doing it, but just because I don’t like it, doesn’t mean I won’t resort to it, as someone found out... Because I had been messed around for so long,it missed the first container. Duly loaded into the second, that got delayed by an impending Hurricane just about to go on a sweeping tour of Florida. So when it did eventually arrive roughly 6 weeks later that originally anticipated,I was nowhere to be seen, as I was in Singapore enroute to Australia. Again, power of RR and friends, samta22 stepped up to the plate and collected. So, big up to all that helped, you guys rock 😎

Wow... Had something similar happen with some ( rare ) early Fiat 500N parts. Payed the money right away, and got excuses every time I called. Ranging from " Got really busy with something else", " my employees set fire to my building", to "had an accident and broke all my toes". When he then "forgot" he had agreed to arrange the shipping, we got Paypal to reverse the payment. I was obviously never going to see those parts... Not without a Lance, anyway...

It’s a pity when numpties like that ruin the finding of old car parts 👎🏻 Touch wood, I have been lucky so far, have always got what I paid for ...😊

I used to work with Ron about 20 years ago. He told me a brilliant story involving shoelaces that I still laugh about

Don’t think that’s very fair, as he’s a good bloke and is running a business. And though funny he might not appreciate that. But as compensation.... he was doing up a house, bought himself a paslode nail gun and every time he tried to pick up a bit of wood to build something, his other half would have nailed it to the floor or wall Just one of those blokes with loads of funny stories

Ron is a great guy to deal with, I would also recommend him 100% Got to support people like Ron, he provides a brilliant service for Petrolheads 😊 Previously I had been under the impression of the States being horrifically expensive to get parts shipped from, and my earlier postage experiences kind of backed that up. Having found out about STS imports nothing could be further from the truth. I will definitely be looking and getting more parts from the States in future 😎

That is, one day ( ;-) ), going to be so satisfying, welding all those new panels in place knowing there's no rust in the seems and no hidden horrors... Like building a new car... Was thinking about it yesterday. I think there are more new panels than old 🤣🤣 I thought you were going for the whole car being NOS !?

I seem to have a knack of buying things whilst either in airports,or on the way to them. Landed up buying a early model Hilux diff casing on the way to Heathrow. They are very hard to find in the Uk. They lend themselves to shortening a lot better than the later ones. Main reason being the later ones are a series of pressed components welded together. These still have round tubes, albeit stepped down in diameter towards the end,but not a problem In other news I acquired some more bits that fit in with the master plan I have for the Mazda next year. A nice little hydrovane compressor that is super quiet. And a a Pels Nibbler. Similar to a Pullmax. Still going to finish mine, but have a use for this, and at the price it would have been rude to say no. Big things happening next year 😎😎😎

Getting back to the thread, you must have acquired most of the bits you need now Johnny?
