This is the first time I've actually liked the look of a Multipla! Bloody good effort, although a shame to hear about the sump. Have you had an problems with police with the import plate? I want to put a set on my Corolla but don't want to get fines and such. Thanks, should hopefully look lots better soon. Fitting some spacers under the engine mounts and some bigger bolts to try and prevent any repeats. Never had any bother about the front plate. If its legal for an import then i don't see why it would be a problem for a non imported car to sport them. I know its not technically legal but common sense will likely get me out of any trouble. If not then ill take it on the chin.

That's a shame about the engine, though it might be OK, these lumps seem pretty tough. The sensible option for a bit more poke is probably the 16v diesel as found in lots of similar age Alfas. I'd love to see a 2.4 JTD install as I think it would be ideal for these cars. You'd probably need to change the gearbox as well though - I don't think the standard box/clutch would handle the torque from the 2.4. I assume you've seen the 20VT conversion that those Polish guys did? IIRC they managed to wreck their sump on something too! Did the old toad ever get the 20VT swap installed under it's new ownership? And are 20VT coupes with decent engines that cheap now? Cheers Duncan Lots of questions there! I would do the box if i did a 20v 2.4, the std one is made of cheese! Toad never had new lump in the end. It was never finished. I'm in the motor trade and can pick up a written off coupe for next to nothing. I realise they're getting thin on the ground but there are still plenty out there. Sourcing sump first and then only doing engine if i have to. Hopefully this one will live on.

If you offered me the choice, I'm not sure if I'd pick a 20VT or a 16VT. Both great engines in their own ways (the 6 speed box might sway it for the 5 pot, but the lampredi is legendary). I'd love a 16VT engine in a Beta Coupe. If I started I'd never finish it though... Good luck with the sump. Cheers Duncan

When I rebuilt the engine in the Toad it ended up making 183bhp IIRC maybe.a bit more, the gearbox lasted 2 weeks then it got parked and a scaffold tower fell on it. Was a sad end really, loved that car.
Just as a FYI you need a Multipla JTD sump. The boss for the centre driveshaft mount is in different places for different models.

Not much to report on the sump front, might have one coming from stealthstylz (hero) but getting it on and running again will be another week or so. In the meantime, I popped out to the garden today. These were still there. Clearly they're bumpers, I'm sure you lot figured that one out. But what's this? Zender? I didn't even know Zender made these! Genuinely had no idea. That's a good start. Zender stuff is all over every car I own strangely enough. Anyway, they're Abarth bumpers. Yes. Multipla Abarth bumpers. I know. The front one is a bit ropey, but for the price I paid I'm not complaining. Rear one is lovely. I'll need to find out if the foglights are the same as the ones I've got, cause this one is poop. So yeah, many excite. Probably just going to satin black them for now and get them on the car. After the weather warms up I'm hoping to Montana the whole car.

I have no idea why ... but I love the fiat multipla. I cant describe what it is about the car. It just says drive me around like a dickhead and pretend to be sensible because you have a people carrier the rest of the time.

YO word is born, big up massive shoutout to stealthstylz for hookin it up and lying in a bigass f**king puddle and performing sickass sump removal and posting that shizz to the ends. Legend. New (old) one is on and the engine sounds sweet as a nut. I'm shocked - it actually sounds slightly better than before. It obviously just needed to be run on no oil for 10 minutes, it's clearly done it some good... Anyway, must've been well overdue an oil and filter so I'm glad that's done now. There was no swarf in there so I've clearly dodged a bullet. Here is the old sump. She's obviously caught the plug on the speedbump and it's taken a chunk of the back of the sump with it! Probably in someone's tyre now. Hopefully will be receiving a homebrew sump protectorator at the Essex swapmeet, so Mrs. Dee will need to take it easy until then. Happy to have it back and running well, bumpers to be done soon as I get a day off, just satin blacking them and getting them on until I can afford the time (and the weather improves) to rattle can the rest of the car. Many excite.

It lives again! Cool, I'm glad you got the new sump and the engine is still going. Tough lumps these - mine ran very low on water thanks to the radiator leak and it's still soldiering on! Can't wait to see in with the bodykit. Cheers Duncan

^ No Rich, we don't. We have certain Wednesdays where we don't go to work but our phones still ring all day with idiots asking about number of owners, warranties and cambelts before offering £3k less than asking price. Spent hours at the side of the road yesterday waiting for AA with a very cold and pi$$ed off Mrs and BabyDee. Turbo seals gone, tried to run away on me but managed to stall it. Pretty scary shizz TBH. Car lifted to TAB™, sourcing bits now, probs doing whole engine but we will see. Money is the deciding factor!

Having experienced it, there's not many things more scary than a runaway turbo diesel. The noise, the smell and the smoke. The horror! You did well to stall it!

Spent hours at the side of the road yesterday waiting for AA with a very cold and pi$$ed off Mrs and BabyDee. Eeesh, that's no fun, especially on that there mothers' day... Hope she forgave you eventually, after all you do treat her to the finest exotica to drive I'm sure that 2.4jtd 5 bangers are way cheaper then a silly rare and therefore super expensive 1.9td?? Hope you get it sorted out quickly buddy
