heh, the laquer peeling on the standard alloys is a common fault, I ended up just replacing the wheels with a new wheel/tyre set when all the tyres were bad enough to be worth replacing. Really wish I'd got a Beams engined Altezza now though instead, that 6-pot is gutless and thirsty....

Tell me about it, I'm having bad thoughts about aspiration/engine conversions in the future. adam73bgt tried to convince me that the Century 1GZ-FE would be a sensible decision, I don't believe him.

2JZ-GTE would be fun, was looking at it when the timing belt snapped on mine, but didn't have funds or time just then so just whacked another standard engine into it...

Cool car. I have an IS300 Sportcross in that crappy silver/gold colour. Drives great though, i was very impressed with it. Whats that trick with the rear lights? How did you do that? And did it confuse the dash rear bulb failure warning light?

Its just some diodes and a twin filament lamp in the foglights, nice and easy. It doesn't confuse it per se, but I have a feeling that if one fails, the bulb failure warning wont register it as it still has a path to ground via the other bulb. So it might not come on unless all of them fail. I tend to check them regularly anyway so I'm not too bothered

LOL, are those skyline GTR Alloys you got onto it?... they fairly suit it to be honest... and while I whinge about its lack of power and the MPG it does I actually do really quite like the old IS, it does have some grunt but you have to work it to get it, the chassis I find to be very very good and quite at home hooning around on the twisties while it still manages to be a very comfy, quiet and relaxed m/way cruiser, the interior is a very nice place to sit back as well with a well thought out and good sound system, (mine's an SE with the extra speakers and thingies - for some reason I got the springs and the diff from the S as well but not the spoiler)

be careful how you use S S is the pov spec no sunroof model, Sport, like mine is the one with the spoiler and springs etc... Yeah they are GTR's, one of my favourite oem wheels, looking to switch them up a bit soon though, something bigger and dishier The engines are completely gutless, but I've grown to accept that, as you say, its comfortable and ace fun in the twisties, I'm not fussed about a traffic light dash

I think I spotted this at the Esso fuel pump during Japfest.
Unless it is a popular mod to do Skyline wheels in Lexus scene?
Like the rear light trick.

Missus had one of the first ones in the country as a company car always thought it lacked grunt but apart from that it had all the whistles and bells and was one of my favourite motors.

should get one... not expensive, reliable, comfy, good handling, quite practical reasonably cheap to fix and not too hard to work on (although the oil filter location is a right PITA). Main problem with them is they are damn thirsty for their performance, something that slow really shouldn't drink that much petrol...

^ Nailed it in one Its two major downfalls are its speed and its economy. If you find an early one, you can benefit from the cheaper >1.8 tax bracket, rather than the frankly awful emissions based tax I pay on mine.

or find an Altezza with the Beams engine, you don't get quite as good an interior but a much better engine that sounds really good as well.....

Yeah they did, its an Eaton M45 iirc, easy enough to DIY, the hardest part is getting/making the TTE bracket for the supercharger. There is someone selling a full TTE kit for £2k, though with the connections I have I get a 1uz in the car for about that or a little more, I know which I'd rather have
