I have an electric fan. Just not going to use it right away.
Priority is to get the thing moving so I can shake down the chassis. Being down a few HP while sorting the rest is not a huge problem.

Looking good, but after seeing this I would not use that fan ! Very interesting video but they should have shown the cooling capacity of the fans also. If a fan sucks up a lot of HP, it could be that it transports more air than a fan which sucks up lower HP. More air means more cooling and that is where the fan is there for, especially in big engined cars Peter

Forgot to mention that i follow your build and like the quality and approach of your work very much. I did a MGB V8 conversion and still have the car but this is a different ball game. Keep up the good work and thanks for showing it

Bjornagn,
Please don't think I'm criticising for the sake of it - or even that I'm less than amazed at the concept, quality and ingeniousness of your work - it's a fantastic project!
My comments were solely from (sometimes bitter) experience in being the parts-gopher and general dogsbody/teamaker/sounding board for my son when he built his car last year (www.attitudeadjustmentracing.com). So far this year it's gone mental in having a new interior, engine swap, custom built intakes/exhaust/gas tank & a rewire in 9 days... I'm knackered & have only been helping out!
I'm glad you're going electric, but just wanted to save you the aggravation of having to redo stuff at a later date.
Keep up the outstanding work!

Moosevan: That is quite the project you did with your son. I think the dollar bills on the bodywork are brillant

Wait till you see it now... Just gone from LS400 power to Dual-quad carbed V12 Jaguar. Dollar bills were in recognition of donations from individuals who supported the project. Businesses who donated bits had logos on roof. Don't want to hijack so will send you a pic or 2 of latest version by PM.

0 days left ;( So, rather than have to pay for her own wheels and tires, Mamma gets to go on a vacation paid out of MY fun account. The silver lining is that with no money in the Molvo account, I can take the summer off and go fishing with a clear conscience!

At least the pressure is off and you can hopefully get back to enjoying doing the work. Deadlines are a stupid idea anyway, things are done when they are done.

Agree in principle;" this does not put food on the table. If it is not fun, we are doing something wrong". That said, I do manage projects as parto f what I do for a living, and if there is no deadline it never does get done. I like projects with enough scope to kill 5 calendar years @ 10 hours/week. I have been pushing way past the 10 hours/week over the last few months, so while the bet kept it fun, it was turning into a chore.

........ and if there is no deadline it never does get done. Guilty of this! .....it was turning into a chore. Not good, hope it becomes fun again as it is stunning work and we all want to see it done.

Sorry you didn't make the deadline and win the bet. Even more sorry that this may now mean less frequent updates on one of my favorite builds...
But enjoying the process is at least as important as making it to the end. Go enjoy yourself so you can enjoy the rest of the build. You've come so far...

Don't worry guys, it is far from being abandoned, and it will still move under it's own power sooner rather than later, but I am no longer pushing to get stuff done. An eye opener at this stage of the project has been the cost of miscellaneous stuff that is needed to awaken the beast. Fluids, belts, rad hoses, battery, battery cables, assorted specialty fasteners, cables and what-not add up in a big hurry

They say the last 10% of the build consumes 90% of the money........

Broke down and ordered a new radiator today. The one I have seems to have the inlet and outlet transposed. This made it impossible to source radiator hoses since not only do you need to get the convolution right, but one end had to be 1.5" and the other 1.75".
I think it is a manufacturing error, but since it was bought two years ago, not much chance of a refund.

The good news is that I drove over the border and picked up the new radiator; it fits in the hole and the inlet/outlets are the right size. Filler moves to the LH side, but that is inconsequential. The bad news is that with the bet lost, summer being here and good friends to spend time at the lake with, I am less driven to spend all my spare time in the shop. So excuse me if this moves along in drips and draps until September or so.

You're probably entitled to a break at this stage!
