Hi gang. Well all I have done to Dorris recently is drive her. The mot is due in June so my anxious mind is already starting to worry Anyway I gave myself a kick up the ar$e today and decided to have a bash at my wheels. Two were ready for paint and the other two still need prep, so I thought if I paint the two that are ready, it might give me the mojo to prep the other two. I had been uming and aring whether to do them red or anthracite. I decided that to do them red was a bit of a risk, as I thought they would either look really good, or really bad! Also I don't have the money to do them twice if the red didn't work. I also really can't be ar$ed to do them twice So off I went to halfords in Elgin for some paint... I had already given the wheels a coat of etch primer earlier this week... I actually quite like them like that lol! But on with the anthracite .... You may notice that I have the lips masked off as I plan to polish them once I'm finished painting. They still need to be clear coated, which I will hopefully get done over the weekend. So what do you think? I'm pretty pleased with them to be honest. Thanks for looking steve.

Just caught up on this from the start. Looking good mate, nice wee holiday read. Those centre caps will set it off period perfect, and thank god red got binned. Anthracite is the way forward.
What's next? Summer is on the way after all...

ToolsnTrack Cheers mate, what's next? Well the mot is looming(June) so I think I may swap the front end over to the gti running gear before then. Then there is the paintwork on the sill and also the lacquer peel on the roof. Also when doing the roof I want to check out the sunroof drains and renew the fibre washers too. I actually opened the sunroof for the first time in my ownership a few weeks back, it had been taped up when I got her. She is defo leaking somewhere as the rear passenger foot well was filling up with water, just as well the drain hole bung is missing Oh and finish the wheels and get them on. I am going to clear coat the two wheels that are painted later on and I might even give the other two a rub down. How are things going with the tvr? Cheers steve.

Going through some non car stuff at the mo so most tinkering has taken a back seat. I'm still hoping to throw it in for an MOT this month and see how she does. Watch this space I guess.

When I painted the wheels I decided to do the whole wheel (front and back), as I didn't want any of the old white paint to be visible through the spokes. Here they are after a couple of coats of lacquer..... And here is one with the tape removed and a centre cap placed in.... I'm well chuffed with them, first time I have ever painted wheels. I think they look spot on, just need to stick the badges on when they arrive, oh and polish the lips. Just after I took that pic, I picked the wheel up forgetting the centre cap was only placed in, and it fell to the floor Luckily it landed on its edge, so the damage was minimal and cant be seen once bolted up properly. I even started sanding one of the other wheels, but only lasted about 15 mins before I got fed up! Think I'm going to use not having the right sandpaper as my excuse Thanks for looking steve.

Yesterday my centre cap stickers arrived in the post, all the way from Slovakia. Strictly speaking they should have this type, to be period correct ..... But I don't care because I don't like that type. For some reason they remind me of the old CZ motorbike badge. Anyway I gave the lips a quick polish today, and then stuck the badges on..... I know the lips don't look massively shinny, but there is a very good reason for that... I'm lazy So thats two wheels finished, and I have started on prepping the other two. I really wish I'd not used a wire wheel to take the paint off the lips though, because they are going to take a fair bit of sanding to get them smooth. I get paid tomorrow so I will get some more sandpaper and paint. Thanks for looking steve.

Should go very well with the 1.9 in there dude, theres one near to my work and that thing goes like a stabbed rat, not sure on its spec but it has a big front mount and sizeable brakes as well.
