Perhaps i was a bit harsh earlier . Yes he vids are impressive but he is no great rally driver . I know rally drivers make mistakes but the following video just makes me think that others would not make the same ones in seemingly easy [ for them ] situations [ wide flowing tracks etc ]
I just think he does not have as much control as others .
He is a impressive entertainer non the less

This was from today... First corner, first run and after a whole night of private practice on Friday. About 15 amateur cars had run over the previous couple of hours without issue.

Don't know much about him personally apart from something to do with DC shoes, has a truck load of money and lives the dream, i like his video's and i like the mustang, stupid horsepower 4wd and clever engineering, all over that, i had heard he got in to escorts on an advent a few years back, this latest looks cool and sounds pretty beast, like others have said if i had his money i would lol

So did the Escort run at the event? I'd love to see some footage, seen pics of it standing still and being offloaded but none in action *just to clarify, I'm 100% in awe of this, the orange Escort in my icon was fast low loud and slayed tires just like Block's but not as professionally*

I'm just saying i do not get really excited about him . Envious no , jealous no ,i would rather watch some mk2s in a forest . I'm just balancing out the myth that he is some sort of god on 4 wheels - yes talented but he is no great rally driver if people are taking him on pure skill .
Its not being miserable just debating peoples perspective on him .

I've seen KB perform his gymkhana show a few times, and it's entertaining in its own way, but there's a huge difference between that and rallying. Gymkhana runs a set course that the driver has practised over and over, rallying doesn't. Therefore gymkhana runs through a number of corners many times, rallying runs hundreds of corners once with little or no practice. Both disciplines require supreme car control, but are totally different in style. Whilst I prefer rallying, I get the appeal of gymkhana. The guy has a really chilled attitude, and owns some cool cars which he drives the wheels off regularly for his and others enjoyment. Good luck to him.

And what exactly are you two trying to achieve by being a couple of miserable old buggers? You are certainly NOT in line with the modus operandi of this forum, instead of enjoying a crazy old Ford, you continue to spitefully talk about the guy owning it like a pair of envious old tarts at a nursery home, your behaviour is unbecoming and pathetic. Bahahahhaa, this is about cars, I like cars and I particularly LOVE Block's Fiestas. But don't tout him about as some kind of driving God when he is just an amazingly good marketing man. This is not an economics forum [/end]

I know you've got penance done, and I'm sure skylinedave will have some forest stage rally escorts to share soon for penance (MadMaxx seems to have hard baked his into his reply) ... I would say this though, I don't think anyone said he was any good at driving at any point on this thread, they just said he was living the dream, and isn't this new Escort lovely. Both of which are undeniably true Worth repeating ... isn't this new Escort lovely ...

I got to see the Escort and Hoonicorn running at Pod today. The sound of the Mustang is something else. The Escort sounds and looks wild too. Videos don't show you how brutal they are. Ryan Tuerck was driving the Escort.

Well, we had a nice 45 minute sit-down with the man this weekend, and he was thoroughly pleasant. He also answered all our questions in great detail, including why rallying didn't work out for him. Now frankly, I'm not interested in hard-selling you my magazine, however, I obviously can't put what he said on here just yet. However, once the mag is out and his interview is in the public domain, I'll stick it on here, too. In the meantime... Chris
