My earliest memories are going to the scrapyard when they were proper, and you could climb over the cars and all that good stuff,
The other one is my dad writing off his mk5 cortina on the way to school one morning, and I got the day off.

My Grandad loved a cheap motor and saved loads of unloved cars off peoples drives.
My earliest car memories are watching and "helping" as he changed gearboxes and clutches by the side of the road. Theres a few old photos of me in my oversize overalls with rolled up sleeves and trouser legs. Going to Rowleys scrapyard in Coventry was my top day out.
I've never lusted after any of my grandads old Renaults or Wolseys but the cars I used to see around the area, Mk1 & 2 Golfs, Clio Williams, E30's etc.
My daughter can already name pretty much every car on the road at 3 years old and I'm sure my 4 month old will follow suit so the legacy continues!

At age 5,going to the hospital in dad's 1970 beetle,in 1976 that is. I was sitting in the space behind the rear seat (de kattebak,as we call it in dutch),very hot on my rear-end,and it was the famous hot summer of 1976! I had just gotten a matchbox car,a Dodge Challenger in red,and we went to the hospital to visit my mum,my sister was born the day before. I still remember coming in the hospital room, and saying:"What do you need that little ugly thing for (my sister)? You have ME!!". Still think that sometimes,BTW. Had an argument with her just yesterday,we're 47 (me) and 42 now),and i only see her like once every couple of weeks!

Always loved minis, and every now and then go Internet shopping for one, can't shake them at nearly 50. Recently been looking at Minus kit car types, especially this one on Speedhunters... ...and it occurred to me today that my interest may be due to this picture... I always wanted one, but my dad insisted it wouldn't get used as it needed a smooth track due to ground clearance and foam tyres, so I had a succession of RC buggies instead. In hindsight he was right, of course! Never got round to owning one, maybe I'll have one now as a project...

Growing up with a father , 3 uncles , cousins and a grandfather all ford crazy !! i suppose the scene and path was set for me to follow lol
As long as it has a metal bumper I'm all over it, my first official car being a rotten '72 capri gt then onto a huge wide arched zakspeed mk1 escort rep.
My first real memory and what started the motorsport passion was '84 in St Georges square Glasgow and the then RAC Lombard Rally leaving from there, me as a teen speaking with the legendary Stig Blomqvist and getting a seat in his legendary Quattro has set me up for life.
I was gifted a hat & jacket both signed by the legendary man himself and pictures taken that still holds pride of place in my collection of car treasures.
The journey home that day in my dad's mk2 rs2000 on twin carbs still sits proudly in my fondest memories of him, dad was on a high with seeing the group B legendsm me taking such an interest and he had the a"RS"e on the old mk2 slip sliding and smoking like he never had before or did again. What a day !! Forever in my mind and heart.

Loads of things for me, my Dad was always into cars so when I was younger it was always classic car shows and I could appreciate any car really classic, modified, modern etc. Loads of memories from my Dad restoring a 73 Stag, he still has it - weird way its almost like a family member now! I can remember the rotten shell arriving home, then it turning slowly into a car before going to a Dads friends garage where he finished it and it got sprayed. Then the day it came home, polishing all the dust etc off it and the first drive in it! - Then a memory I had was one of the first shows in it... dad says "odd the hazard lights are flashing" - "turn them off?" - "it doesnt have them!" - Bloody alarm was having a mind of its own! Same colour as this but with brown interior Then other cars I have fond memories of - my Dads maroon 1987 Rover 820e - Great car! Mums 1990 Red Cavalier SRI but another one that sticks was my Grandads love of BMW and the one that stuck mainly due to the looks, the noise - the fact it pushed you in the seat on acceleration (i was only little mind!) F reg - BMW 525I - Grey They keep going - then i got my own license!

I can remember my father having a Vauxhall with chromed "scallops" in the bonnet as he was a company "rep". He left the company and had to get his own car - a SH Alvis "Grey Lady".....I hated it as it had a "Rag Roof" and never wanted to ride in it. My second car was a Frog Eye Sprite (still have it), later on an MX5 (still got it), and four weeks ago I picked up an SLK 350....with the folding roof!
