Nice work, that looks perfect. As for the front wing thing, are you going to build Britains (and possibly the Worlds) first Ratosuka ? Big Cummins, mesh windows, random stuff nailed on ? Please don't

Please don't Don't plan on having it too ratty. It does need paint but my goal is to make it solid before I make it pretty. Lots of replacement panels are available in Japan but it seems that people won't export them. Something to do with retaining their heritage believe it or not. As for changing the engine, I believe Thats been covered on page one. I made a start on the exhaust yesterday... However I will need to buy a new downpipe. The one I have is too far gone (bent/split/rusty).

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to shoot straight and true with this one. It's total nonsense. I don't know how you're approaching the issue, or who you are dealing with, but there's no Japanese conspiracy to stop you from buying C10 Skyline parts and exporting them anywhere in the world.

I like where you're going with this, it would be tempting to go down the restore to standard route with something rare but with lows and wheels and interior accessories it will make it interesting to the modified set too. I don't know what models they were but I've seen two in the UK - a metallic dark grey one and a white one and both times I just thought how beautiful they were and felt compelled to shoot away (with my camera) / gaze at them for ages. Not many cars have that effect on me. This one in summer 2014 (gtx I think) - Loved the seats - Then this one in November 2015 -

I managed to buy a my whole Skyline from a Japanese company and there was no problem of that nature, in fact they were delighted to do so ! If you get really stuck give them a try www.n-classiccar-jp.com/index.english.html They have new parts for Hako's but also a large second hand parts stockpile as well as a yard out back with cars for breaking. English is spoken, give them a go ! CCNagoya@gmail.com I'm sure someone on RR will be able to aim you in the right direction. I only know of one documented incident of there being any kind of 'problem' with a non-Japanese person buying a Hakosuka in Japan, but it only seemed to involve approval from someone with a bit of local 'clout'.

Never had a problem getting parts for the 510. Everyone who I've purchased from also carry parts for the C10. Who have you been trying?

I don't know how you're approaching the issue, or who you are dealing with, but there's no Japanese conspiracy to stop you from buying C10 Skyline parts and exporting them anywhere in the world. I've spoke to various importers who all claim they can get the parts no problem. I even go to the lengths of finding the places that make and sell the panels, not just auction links from Yahoo auctions. None bring back good news. I'm either then ignored once they know the parts are destined for the UK, or as one agent said, the supplier didnt want his stock going to the UK, word for word. It's really not something I'd make up as I have been buying carts and parts from Japan for about 10 years now and have never encountered such a headache to buy something. So rather than shoot me down in flames, try and add something a little more constructive. I bought the car in November and have been emailing agents in Japan, western Resellers (Jesse Streeter, Japan dyno etc) and have had the same response from them all. To be honest I'm past worrying about replacement panels, I have enough to do in the meantime and worst case would be to fly to Japan and sort it out myself in person... Which isn't a terrible thing as I'm rather fond of the place

You stated something that I know - from personal experience - not to be true. Who was the Japanese supplier who "didn't want his stock going to the UK"? Name, rank and serial number please. I'm in Japan later this week. I'll ask around a little. You need a boot lid, right? FRP replica OK?

As said, I've always bought everything myself without involving anyone else but the gc10 parts seems to be a minefield. Frp boot would be fine, or carbon top layer with frp skeleton.

Many times. Emailed them at least 3 times and also had a Japanese friend email them through the same method (contact page on website) and no reply. There's a ton of stuff I'd buy from them too as it is all quite reasonably priced

He made a phone call and we've netted you a pretty decent original steel bootlid. In fact, it's actually from a PGC10. No photos yet, as he has to go and collect it. We will have to talk about shipping etc. I'm travelling around a bit for the next week or so but will pass on photos when I get them....

GREAT SCOTT!!!!
Fantastic news, currently in vietnam visiting friends, family and drinking the best coffee in the world.
That is amazing news and I am super grateful, annoyingly I have some friends on holiday in Japan at the moment but being they're massively conservative they may not want to bring some old j-tin back on the plane but I'll ask them!
Keep me posted and thanks for the heads up on this dawson!
