Great, great stuff! And a trophy to boot! I know we've been here before in this thread on engines, but that was a while ago and Pitstop's done a fair bit since then. Are you limited to Citroen engines for Malta, or could a BMW maybe sneak in? We were going to have a year off with Pitstop’s hand operation and possibly career move plus taking two cars out there is exhausting. However there will be a meeting next week with a Pete Sparrow, the doyen of BMW conversions to ascertain whether the blue car could be converted over the winter. If so we’re likely to return with a 109bhp car stalking the other competitors. Pitstop will drive in a lower group but with plenty of power (watch out ladies race) and I’m going to have a crack at the hot Maltese Civics and Minis. Also and most pleasingly Pitstop was talking to one of the organisers at the presentation and said she might not be back next year and she was told in no uncertain terms that she’d better be as as she and the car were icons of the Malta Classic. More news soon.

Good meeting, much drawing on the back of fag packets and both of us don't smoke. The spec's been decided, the modifications, the weight saving and the rest. So I have much pleasure in being able to tell you that 'Frankensnail is GO!'

Now I need to find a 'good' BMW R1150RT. Anyone got one in a shed? Ian - There is one at Copart in Bristol and it's a breaker - however for you to purchase it you have to hold an 'Environmental Disposal Licence' - do have a any contacts with a friendly scrappy / recovery company or if you approach one could they bid on your behalf ?? - bit messy doing it this way but could be a cheap option - link below www.copart.co.uk/quickpick/motorcycles/?displayStr=Motorcycles&from=%2F&page=2

Thanks but I need to whole bike for all the engine ancillaries including ECU, throttle bodies, loom, exhausts etc. And it's expensive as you can pick up a complete bike for £1200 and recoup half the purchase by selling the rest off piecemeal.

Got a few hours down at the Volcano Lair today so thought I'd put the Kevlar raid-stylee rear wings on. Plenty of time for that. Seemples But first get the locking fuel cap off that we lost the key in a downpour getting it home after Malta Three bolts, four screws and nuts and a clip. This is going to be a piece of p1ss Old wing off, looks like a Lambretta side panel or something out of Flash Gordon Naked as the day it was cobbled together in Portugal Wing drilled, filler pipe hole cut, clips fitted Then passed two hours of excruciating contortions where only two of the three top bolts would bite. I needed an extra long left arm and an extra thumb on my right hand. Finally with the application of extra special curse words It all came together. Only the nearside wing left

Would you mind sharing where you purchased the extra special curse words? I think a fair few of us would be interested in getting our hands on some.

Popular Anglo-Saxon words are too commonplace these days so I turn to foreign languages. Italian is good but to the uninitiated still sounds like your chatting someone up. To really get that bolt to set in a rivnut or that nut turning on a recalcitrant thread you need to use German 'Küss meinen Arsch du Hurensohn' sounds so much better to me when screamed aloud in the workshop than 'Turn you f3kin piece of sh1t'

No-one understands them here anyway. Make me an offer! They only have one here which is, "Putang ina mo" which means son of a lady dog/lady of the night, depending how you say it. This phrase is used so often, it really has no offensive meaning any more. Dull, huh?

Now they look interesting. Wonder if they'd be a good fit for an A series in a mini?
