Description:
This is my girlfriends 1997 Saab 900, we have owned it for approximately 8 months and it has done us proud, it is driven every day come rain or shine and has taken us to Scotland and back on holiday without incident! Bodywork wise it is a solid example, the previous owner has done some work to the rear arches but it has been finished to a good standard, although the paint in this area is a little flat and could do with a proper polish. It has aftermarket lowering springs stainless steel exhaust system which sounds good although may be a little loud to some peoples tastes. and comes with 2 sets of alloy wheels, the origional saab alloys, and a set of vauxhall "BBS" style wheels, although these require balancing but do come with excellent bridgestone tyres all round!
The good:
Legendary Saab b204 engine in n/a format, for ultimate reliability!
Electric mirrors, and electric windows all round!
Clean condition all round
Electro-mechanical roof with manual front latches, this system is a little slower than the hydraulic system on newer convertibles but is 10x more reliable!
SID (Saab Information Display) - for fuel economy, range, temperature and any warning messages (low washer fluid etc)
Night panel mode for driving at night.
87,000 miles from new!
Not too bad on fuel on a long run!
Central locking
Twin airbags and ABS as standard.
Cheap open top motoring! It was the first convertible I have ever been in, and its tonnes of fun with the roof down and nice and quiet with the roof up! Even at motorway speeds!
The bad:
Drivers leather seat is cracked
Headlight wipers have a mind of their own, I think its an earth fault
The thermostat sticks open so the car tends to run a little cold
Although the roof is in excellent condition, it requires re coating, and water collects in the roof rails when sat in the rain.
The dampers are completely shot so the car is a little bouncy.
The heater only works on speed 4, needs a new resistor pack or replacement resistors soldering in.
Pictures:
These pictures are stolen from my thread, but I will take some more once we have given it a clean along with some under side / engine bay shots.
Feel free to drop me a PM on here or give me a text on 07341550258, I cannot answer calls during the day due to work commitments but I will get back to you as soon as I can!
Thanks for looking!
Michael.
