Have recently sold my Honda twin cam powered SIMCA track car along with a half built one with a B series Vtec. The reason is I had chance of something better in track SIMCA 1000s. It's a Rallye 2 originally raced in the Youngtimer trophy race series on the Continent. In recent years it has had Class wins in Classic Thunder races with Dan, its previous UK owner. For me, after running and racing SIMCAs since the early 80's, it's a retirement 'Trackday Toy'.... 65mustang This is the car your gastank went into. It is Daniel's latest 'creation' on our SIMCA Club UK stand at Practical Classics Restoration Show earlier this year. It is a LHD Rallye 2 totally restored and fitted with a 1442 engine on throttle bodies.

Frank Breidenstein's current racing SIMCA.... a Rallye 3, just 1000 of which were made for homologation and to mark the end of SIMCA 1000 production in 1978.

First trackday of 2018 for me at Blyton yesterday. Really wet early on but this hangs on really well. Real fun and puts up a great performance compared with the modern stuff. Now have to clean off all the muck ready for the NEC Classic & Restoration show next weekend.

Shame the weather was so horrible, your car is so clean in the first pictures. Must be quite a knack to driving these in the wet, I guess the steering must be very light yet traction out the corner must be much better than front engine cars. The pictures are great but would love to see some on board video for the full effect.

There's an in car video on youtube of this on one of my runs up Shelsley Walsh hill at RRG 2016. I'll look out the link for it. Post '69 SIMCA 1000s have a really direct steering rack, the group 2 rack is even quicker. Cornes are a case of getting this right going in and, once you're heading in something like the right direction, accelerating hard which serves to sit the back end down to more negative camber. Photo... A 2005 'Youngtimer' race with this car on the left near the front.

I have watched many of those Youngtimer videos, really good racing, I might have posted a link in one of your other threads with the Simcas very competitive. Bit like the Imps in the Historic touring cars, watched far to many of those on board vids too, so fast in the corners just need another 500cc for the straights.
