I needed a pair of barrels. One to become a firepit and t'other to be the garage scrap bin. Upon cutting the top off one I discovered oil!!! Not a lot really, but the guy had insisted they were in his way and I had to take 6 barrels or none at all. So I chiseled a hole in the top of each and acquired a gallon of new engine oil. DSC_2581 by quickrack, on Flickr DSC_2582 by quickrack, on Flickr Thats my chainsaw oiled up for a good while free A post of Grizz's had me keeping an eye and sure enough I spotted a nest. $wallow's have 4 eggs there. I'm gonna be a daddy again..... DSC_2580 by quickrack, on Flickr A mate of mine is building a Mexico rep and found some nice Recaro seats. However they were not on Ford sub-frames. Made them cheaper though. So he found a lad willing to make some but couldn't get his car to him anytime soon. Guess who has a mk2 floor in the attic? I dropped it out and will get some more piccys of the cars there and the seats when its finished. DSC_2578 by quickrack, on Flickr More as and when...... Gallon of oil is the cost of fetching the barrels back in your pocket.
Free money is good.
Daddy daycare..... very cool.

Here's a bit of my thinking. I've built a Mk1 escort to Mex rep standard and an arched mk2 to rally rep stage and my current escort estate. I have a ratty old 4 door to knock about in and an Rs to restore or modify on the back burner. I've been looking at building a Hotrod maybe. But here in Ireland there is zero parts/services availability. And base Yanks are huge money. So a trip abroad and drive a car back via a ferry seems the only option. But again it's a lot of money. Rotten Daimler's or jags seem to still make strong money. I looked at dropping a body on something like a Lexus but I feel it wouldn't be a Hotrod really. And then there's the other bit of me that would like a cruiser. Especially a 40's or 50's car but chopped and lowered (have you seen Dez's latest project?). Not a Mercury but in that style. Then I'll see a Cal Bug and lust at it. Or a mini on 10" fat tyres and change my mind again. Or a Model A with a 32 grill and an alloy headed, flathead V8 and I'm scrambled again. Tís very confusing. In other news, I bought a new petrol hedge trimmer (half price in Woodies) so my chainsaw has broken in anger after deciding it was no longer the sexiest tool...... 😱

Went to the monthly bird market today. Our neighbour had a gundog in training that got out and killed ours last year. We got 3 female 2 week old Pekins. DSC_2742 by quickrack, on Flickr The kids adore them naturally. Also when there I called to a man selling mk1 escort spares. I bought an intact Mk1 Escort 6 dial dash incl loom for €100. Well under the average price. I'll fit it to my car to ensure everything works, then clean it etc and sell it on. In other news I stuck a wanted ad for an adult bicycle free or cheap on a few local Facebook groups. Savage response will keep me busy for a while. Well "The move" more accurately describes it really I moved where I now live, 20 odd years back. Money being tight I wanted cheap storage. I bought an old truck body with a wee bit of damage and a rear roller shutter door off a truck bodybuilders I was selling in to. They are defunct now and the site derelict  The deal included a lad collecting it, bringing to me in longford and having a built in crane to unload it. €350 Since then it went on to store many things. Incl my now long broken ZV3032 Mk1 Escort Mex replica DSC_2686 by quickrack, on Flickr Fast forward 20 years and its in the way. I need to move it. I had concreted around the door. I reckoned I'd drill a series of holes and smash it up with chisels driven into the holes. One 3/4" inch hole later my brand new drill bit was a mess. DSC_2789 by quickrack, on Flickr DSC_2790 by quickrack, on Flickr :amazing: :amazing: :amazing: :amazing: More Power!!! A trip to the tool hire got me a nice big Hitachi Kango and I have some fine strapping sons. Que much noise!! :wife: :wife: :wife: DSC_2786 by quickrack, on Flickr DSC_2788 by quickrack, on Flickr 8 hours it took us to kango across the width of the shed. 8hrs!! Turns out it was a half bottle left over from the extension concrete pour and is 12/15 Newton whatever that is. I.m confident in the extension now. I think a bunker made of this stuff might ensure the survival of the species if Nuclear war breaks out Much arsing around with bits of wood, wheels, bigger bits of wood, trolley jacks and finally, a bokkle jack, as my daughter insists on calling it got it moving. It is now a foot higher in the air than its been since 1998. DSC_2791 by quickrack, on Flickr DSC_2794 by quickrack, on Flickr DSC_2792 by quickrack, on Flickr More supports needed underneath before we raise it further. The plan is to shelve it and finally have a place to store spares. Its lovely and dry in there. More news as and when i get it done.

The shed move is halted as I don't have anything to lift it AND be stable long enough to safely block it up. So I am going to have to hire or borrow a long trolley jack or similiar to move it. Anyway. Passed this on my travels. DSC_2801 by quickrack, on Flickr DSC_2800 by quickrack, on Flickr Spotted this in the carpark at Argos. Not exactly retro but cool. DSC_2804 by quickrack, on Flickr DSC_2805 by quickrack, on Flickr And then on the way home I saw this and had to stop! Chatted to the owner for ages. Its a 1950 but arrived sans engine and he had a rotten transit......see where this is going? Very quiet these days on the car front. Getting kids ready for school and college takes up vast swaths of time! DSC_2944 by quickrack, on Flickr Seen at the riverfront in Carrick-On-Shannon. Landy in the field is a late "lights in the wing" Series 2a. which dates it accurately between 1969 and 1971. Statistically rare but looks like it's in a terrible state. not a standard colour. rear roof, side panels and rear door look aftermarket fibreglass which us funky. I'd bet a shilling the body is holding chassis together, probably scrap value :-(
Can you get the bonnet open? Might be one of the inline 6 2.6 engines
