Been along time since I've posted on here. Some might remember my Hiace van and my mk2 fiesta. Built a couple of VW T4 vans and a couple of NA MX5. But missed my Hiace and wanted another van. But as nice as the T4s were everything you think of doing to them has already been done! So.. I thought I would have a go at a mk6 transit So picked this one up for £500.went with a semi hi top as I wanted to be able to stand up in it. After a good wash and polish and with a few bits replaced it didn't look to bad. So at these point it still had MOT but a look underneath reviled it need some welding doing. Well.. it is a Ford after all! So after 3 weekends of solid welding, a roll of wire, bottle of gas and couple of repair panels later! It's was ready for another MOT . Passed with only one advisory. Heavily wax oiled underneath! I can live with that.. Time to started the conversion and the modifications! I let the pictures do the talking But basically it's rolling on landrover rims lowered all round about 5"! And I'm part way through the day van conversion. I'll keep the updating as I do more.. and it's nice to be back. Rims fitted but still at standard ride hight. But it sat way to high for my liking... so..... I hit it with my big stick And couple of ideas of how I want it to look. Just not sure which one?? Thoughts?

Never knew Land Rover rims bolted up to a Transit!! That wheel and tyre combination looks great with the lowering done but also a fair bit smaller in diameter to what was originally on there. Doesn't that make the already low gearing a bit too low?

Looks a great project, Always thought the front door window top edge looks wrong on these, how about blacking it out up to the gutter then taking a rising lower line from the bottom of the dropped part of the window .

Also I'm running 205/55/16. And this equals to the same size as the standard rims were so gearing is not effected.

This looks awesome. I would love to do a proper transit camper, used to have one as a work van and they are bigger, faster and nicer to drive than my t25.

been thinking of doing one of these for a while now due to the sky high vw prices and the rotbox vitos....transit was my next choice... That was the exact reason why I went for the transit. Done 2 T4 in the past, and when I came to sell them, made a silly amount of profit on both of them !! But want I didn't like with them was the fact you can't stand up in one! Looked at a Vito. But they were as rotten as any transit I looked at. And besides there's plenty of modded ones of them around. But you don't see a dropped transit every day! So I like to be diffrent. So went with the transit ;-)

That does look good! Although I can't help but wonder if it would have been a better idea to lower it after the weight has gone inside!

Could you possibly do me a favour and extended the black panel from behind the passenger's front window to behind the sliding door. As I'm fitting side windows so want to see what it look like extended past the tinted window.

Been looking at having a day van for a while as I keep borrowing the father in laws Fiat Scudo when we go camping, been looking at T4s as I used to have them as work vans so I was a bit surprised how much trannys go for and yours looks great on those rims! Just need to convince the wife now!!

This is ace, was it easy to lower? Easy enough. It's FWD so the rear is just a beam. It sits under the leaf spring,so to flip it on top of the spring ( by cutting the old brackets off and re welding them underneath the beam) and you lower it about 5". But you'll need to fabricate longer shackles as 5" is to much. The shackles will bring it back up to a usable hight. The front is one coil of the spring and the strut lowered in the hub by an inch. Brings it down to the hight its at now. The rear is a little bouncy but thick that's more to do with knackered shocks! So I'll be looking to replace them at some point.
