Right, due to a number of circumstances conspiring against me, I need to shift the 806...
In a nutshell, I bought the car with the clutch not disengaging, and a few minor bits and bobs that needed doing. I was going to use it to move house.
I bought a new clutch cable and changed it, which highlighted that it's not the cable but the clutch plate itself or the thrust bearing that is at fault! At this point I got a van to move house in so didn't need the car but thought I'd fix the clutch and MOT it anyway.
So I've purchased a brand new good quality Valeo clutch kit, but in between buying it and getting the time to fit it, someone drove into the side of the car. Rather than writing it off through insurance, I thought I'd just pass it on to someone on here.
Good bits:
It's a limited edition tennis special, in Wimbledon green and other obscure colour name references to tennis championships and similar nonsensensical Peugeot Limited Edition flair that we all know and love.
It's got a beautiful half leather 7 seat interior, with the front two seats swiveling, and the rear seats being able to be reconfigured in a number of ways, or removed altogether. Electric front windows and mirrors with powerfold.
The engine is the legendary XUD 1.9 turbo lump, which is pokey through the gears, but does blow black smoke out under heavy throttle - from my paste xperience with 306 peugeots this is usually due to a boost leak somewhere in the rubber hoses or pipe fittings.
The engine starts on the button even when parked up, and runs all day long without overheating. Pulls strongly.
It's got a Bosch pump so is good for veg oil running, and if you want, when you buy it, I can give you ~100 litres of the stuff for free (it'll probably need to go through a strainer before pouring as I've always run it through a filter before using it in my old 306).
Suspension has some creaks, think the rear shocker is on the way out, but the car tracks straight and true, stops and steers absolutely fine. I drove it from Dunstable to Leamington Spa (once you're going, not being able to disengage the clutch isn't as much of a problem as it seems!).
Good set of alloys on it. It's got two almost new tyres on the front.
All electrics seem to work, wipers, lights etc.
It's really rather comfy!
Body is rather straight except for the bit specifically mentioned below.
The car comes with a brand new battery, which I'll include if you buy it for the advertised price, otherwise I'll listen to offers but will keep the battery as I have another car it could go into.
Bad points:
Clutch needs replacing. The car has a new clutch cable, and a brand new Valeo kit comes with it, so it's just a case of fitting it.
Throttle cable needs replacing. It decided to do a Toyota style acceleration the other day on me when I ran it round the block and it's because the throttle cable is broken, so the inner cable doesn't slide and gets stuck. Easy to swap, I've done a heath robinson repair by putting a return spring on it to snap it shut temporarily.
The return springs I fashioned for the above problem came from the indicator units - you'll need to re-shape the spring back into original form and clip them back on the indicators.
BIG dent in the driver's rear sliding door. The sill is untouched, and the door opens and closes fine - the dent might pop out (I'll have a crack at it if I have time, as it needs taking off with the door card and pushing from the inside). The moulding strip comes with the car but will need straightening and new clips.
Dent just behind the driver's rear door on the quarter - this was there when I got it, and isn't rusting but is a bit unsightly.
MOT ran out end of June.
Two keys but one is half broken in the ignition barrel, which means you need to use the "full" key for the doors, and the "half" key for ignition. Solution would be to somehow extract the bit of key from the barrel, and then you can use the same key everywhere.
A few battle scars on the bumpers etc.
The car will need trailering or towing away from Leamington Spa. It's driveable in the sense that it could go down the street by bumpstarting it, but you'll get rather stuck at the first junction, and it doesn't go above ~25% throttle due to the return spring fitted above. Also due to the lack of clutch control, it COULD drive onto a trailer, but you might end up flying off the other end. Fortunately I've got a pair of hands and a hand winch that we could use!
The car would be a good breaker - you should see over £100 for the interior easily, and another £50 for the alloys and steering wheel. That's excluding the brand new clutch kit, and all the other stuff you could sell off if you wanted to. I just haven't got the space (it's on the street!) to do it.
Plus it would be nice if someone rescued it. I know it's not that retro, but it's quintessentially 90's Peugeot, with the added bonus of being a quirky Limited Edition. It would make an ideal parts lugger or road trip car, and ability to run on veg oil means you can do some rather cheap motoring!
Will listen to offers if you can pick up this week - try me!
I'll upload some better pictures tonight, but you get the idea...
