when the fact that the TVR Griffith's rear light cluster is the same unit from a mk3 cavalier, just turned upside down, is mentioned it often results in a snort followed by "typical TVR" I've seen plenty of Griffiths and I had never noticed that! I had noticed the mk3 Fiesta lights fitted to Chimaeras though.

Owning an Alfa Romeo is usually enough for people to say "you what"? I remember telling someone I worked with that I'd bought one and she said "what the bloody hell have you done that for?" I thought it a tad harsh personally.

The legend behind the Issigonis designed Austin Allegro was that it was designed around 4 x 6' Welsh Guardsmen; i.e. that it would comfortably accommodate 4 large adults, (I think they probably had to take their Bearskin headgear off).

The SIMCA 1200S Bertone coupe has a story similar to the Escorts and Orions mentioned earlier...rusty from new. SIMCA 1000 floorpans were sent to Bertone in Italy to receive his body. The Coupe shells were then sent back to the SIMCA factory in France to be fitted with mechanicals and finished off. They made the journey on racks on open railway wagons....IN BARE METAL...!! As if a joint effort between SIMCA and a 60's Italian coachbuilder needed any help in rusting..!!

It was the first car with a touchscreen GPS...in 1990...and the touchscreen is powered by a humongous CRT.

Not my current car, but I had a Lotus Elan M100 until April this year. Being Lotus, they saved money where they could, using many parts From old Vauxhalls. But oddly enough, it also used the windscreen from the McLaren F1.

The fact that my B1 wagon is the only one left on UK roads (currently) normally gets a reaction from most people.

It's a 1.4, no point lying about it, soon reveals itself pulling away, but parked up people just think I'm being a tosser.

It's a very common reaction when people ask about the power of my Dad's Lotus VI ... ... and I tell them it's an 8hp engine. A gang of hoodies recently told me to flip off as their flipping scooters had more than that.

The roof design and gutter section on my 1963 leyland 15 panel van/Ex Atlas was designed by that 'geezer' who went on to work for Ferrari.

My daily was being driven on the road until a few weeks before I got it - and had never been welded who'd of thunk it?

My neighbours' general response to my weekly welding sessions on my exhaust - because I've got to the point where out of sheet cussedness I refuse to spend money on a new one. It's become a challenge to see how long I can make it last.
The MOT guy raised an eyebrow at it - but it wasn't actually leaking on the day. It fell off a week later though.
