We'll have to see how racing picks back up, post covid, but at my favorite track ( only about 15 minutes from my house ), I was in about the top 1/3 to 1/4 of the cars, with my Capri.
The Capri has a 4 linked Watts rear, rollertops, compression struts, fully rose jointed, changed rollcenters.
About 515Hp ( quad Weber Chevy small block) Jerico straight cut dog box, etc.
The really fast ones are a heavily modified late model Vette, some LS swapped Z240's, and I think a Turbo Honda swapped Noble holds the track record right now.
Funny thing is, The 500 was only a couple of seconds off my Capri times.
With 65Hp at the crank....
( after I took big chunks out of the laptimes with some aero experiments)
With twice the horsepower ( to start with ), and better aero, I think it might move up the field a bit...
The Capri is a really nice car, and I love driving it.
But, specially on the tighter tracks, it feels like a bit of a blunt instrument compared to the Fiat.
To go fast in it, you really have to grab it by the scruff of the neck.
So you are just a hair away from overdriving it...
( that's why I keep taking it to the tight tracks, to try and iron out its weak points.
It already has the torque coming out of the corners, and the straight line speed for the long ones )
The 500 felt so nice and nimble, I could place it much more accurately in a corner, with a nice sharp turn in.
And hopefuly, it will be better than it was when I'm done...
