I bought some resin and 'glass mat. ( and gelcoat, wax, moldrelease, brushes, rollers, catalist, etc) Hopefully I can get started on building the mold soon...

Friday morning. Everything is cleaned and waxed within an inch of its life.

That extra nose is the original prototype nose that all later mods are based on. And because it is a modified prototype, its a bit heavier than it should be ( overlapping material where the mods are made) But I decided to use it to take part of the mold off, to eliminate the hot air exits I made on the other one. ( here blocked off with cardboard, incase resin would seep through and make a mess of things ) Things went wrong right away. I guessed wrong on the amount of catalyst, and it wouldn't cure. So, in 110 Deg F. heat, I'm blasting my fiberglass with a heatgun...

I mixed the batch for the next layer a lot hotter, and let that cure until I could trim it and put it on the car. ( the lower layer was still really soft, and didn't release cleanly, so there will be some more bodywork on the inside of the mold than I was hoping for) After that, it was putting on layers on the buck. 4 on the 1st piece that I made the catalyst mistake on, 3 on everything else. I was done ( with tools cleaned up, etc ) 5:15 the next morning. But I think it looks good. 1st layer. 2nd layer. 3rd layer. I'm a little tired. I think I'll take it easy today...

Of course giving up is part of the game.
Just not the part you select.
Well done so far.

Great stuff. I am going to have a try at some glass work. Probably end up sticking my hands together! Hope to stay a few steps behind you so I can learn a bit.

Thanks, guys. I'll let it cure for a couple of days, and then try to release it from the buck. Hopefully its not too big of a mess on the underside...

First one down. I learned a lot. Hopefully the next one goes quicker and better...

Although this was part of the plan all along, it still feels a bit weird. I put a lot of hours in the styrofoam buck, but its job is done...

Yeah... A little...
But I didn't build it to survive anything more than taking the mold off it.

Your sleep hours are either very limited, or screwed up.
Unless you are hiding in Holland.
Really pleased to see your result.
Once you chop the mould, you know you have done well. (Or screwed up really badly)
