Peugeot 205 GT TU3S (85bhp) Twin Choke for sale with full MOT - passed with no advisories.
No significant rust or rot anywhere including body, sills, floor pan or engine bay and car has never been welded before, looking through the MOT history it has never had an advisory for rust,
Receipts for recent work (within the last 1000 miles) including cam belt, drive shaft, water pump, discs and pads, wheel bearing, new brake pipes, wheel cylinder, hand brake cable, bushes and a service.
Two previous owners
Paintwork is good all round the car and I can't see any evidence of it ever having had paintwork.
Interior is in excellent condition and has original stereo and all bucket seats are in great condition as are the door cars and the dash.
Has vacuum sunroof which is working and doesn't leak.
The car drives faultlessly and is surprisingly fast.
Over about 3500rpm the second choke activates and it feels as though a turbo has kicked in, it really will surprise you and it has good power all the way up until about 100mph where it tops out, will happily out run most modern stuff.
It's apparently just over a second slower to 60 than a 1.6 gti but having driven a gti I wouldn't think there was that much in between them, the car is also lighter than a GTI and really does feel nimble and alert to drive.
This car has the same engine as the Citroen AX GT.
I have put on a set of 1.6 GTI alloys (all speedline) with matching Continental tires that all have good tread however the original steels with good tires and hubcaps will come with the car.
Car starts first time every time on the first turn of the key and I have done about 750 miles going back and forth to Surrey from Essex and have never had any problems.
I would think this would be a good investment looking at the price of GTI's with the added bonus of this being much cheaper to insure and to tax.
This car is not to be confused with the early model GT's that had a less powerful engine, standard interior and didn't have the GTI styling.
Along with the XS this is probably the most desirable 205 outside of the GTI's.
As with any car of this era there are a few bits that need doing:
Speedo works and reads correctly but it is sometimes slow to catch up
Slight leak of exhaust gases (started in the last week) but I will try and resolve this before the sale
One of the Speedline wheels could do with painting, no kerbing or scuffing to any of them though
Please feel free to call me on 07903434453 if you have any questions, car is located in Southend on Sea and is taxed and insured so test drives are not a problem.
Open to reasonable offers but please take into account the condition of the car and what else (not much) you can get for this sort of money in the current classic car market.
Thanks for reading
