Yeah, I can't see 3mm making much difference! Hi, It will do, It's a different radius. If you fit the wrong one it will wear on either the ends of the linings or the middle. Either way they won't be very efficient. There's a reason unbraked trailers are limited to 750 kgs. Colin Edit: Sorry, that sounded a bit harsh.

I meant it can't make much difference increasing/decreasing the size by 3mm. Obviously the shoes and drums need to match in either case.

Had a chance to look at the brakes a bit closer after work today. Thats the setup: I'm not really sure if the backplates are repairable (weldable)! The backplates are of bolt on type, but are either riveted, or they used security nuts. I took measurements of the bolt/rivet spacing, and the wheel stud spacing, but left the bit of paper in the car. New bolt on backplates with braking gubbins are not very cheap, plus there is the drum cost on top... £102 from Barlow Trailers. This does also beg the question, can I fit the weld on plates to the unbraked axle?

Hi, I don't think they are weld on backplates, They are left blank so they can be drilled to another pattern of choice if being fitted to something different.

They're advertised as weld on!

Is that a Suffolk Punch? I have fond memories of using one of those as a kid and finding it at the other side of the lawn when returning from emptying the grass box because the engine speed picked up a bit and the centrifugal clutch started dragging!

12" wide . Therefore known as a Suffolk Colt . Correct long clutch cover now fitted, throwplate replaced , bottom blade on ... Handlebars painted , can't find the 3 nuts for the recoil starter , or the fuel tank ! It looks brand new again .
When i was little I took great delight in running over dog turds and seeing how far they were flung,,

It's not truly 'finished' until we've seen it in action!

I took an old Hayter Harrier mower as part payment for a job months ago. Chucked it in the lockup, wasn't sure what to do with it. But I recently pulled it out, and tried it on a couple of rough grass jobs.
It does very well, especially as the throttle cable has stretched and it'd only running on half-poke!
I'm tempted to try and fit a mulching blade. Also wondering if I can change the rollers out for a pair of powered wheels...

Like for still running XP and for cool old mowers.

With the twin axle trailer (TR-4), can I use car brake units, or is that not allowed these days?
If I was to replace the suspension units with 'axles' and leaf springs, what size tubing would I need for the axles? I'd like to make it strong enough for 1500kg gross.
Also, had 10 mins with Westwood11 the other day:
The ball bearings where so thick with grease that they couldn't slide back down to the shaft. I gave my balls a quick clean (lol), and put some chainsaw oil in there, as that was what I had to hand. It will come out as there is no gasket for the cover plate.

Try Vauxhall Viva . HA was on 12", HB I think rolled on 12" too HC musta been 13" ? Chevette was 13 but had closer together slots . Yours do look like proper trailer wheels from Rice, Ifor williams ,Richardson etc First thing I thought when I saw the pictures... 'recycled horsebox'.

I'm still in the process of sorting out the black trailer. But I had various reservations about it, so took it out for some testing. It seems most of the weight is over the front axle, which did concern me, but on tight cornering I noticed the rear wheels have to drag sideways a bit, which makes sense, so maybe this is correct?
The other concern was when loaded on rough ground, would it balance itself okay, or would it be rally pulling/pushing up and down on the vehicles towbar. But I have satisfied myself that it is fine.
At the same time, I took the opportunity to test a new hose setup on my 2" pump, as I had issues with the layflat last time.

Anyone know much about Chinese 2-strokes?
I bought a second hand Titan (from Screwfix) strimmer/hedge cutter, and it's got me a little baffled.
I can get it to start, and idle, but when I try and rev it dies. It seems to prefer choke to start even if it's warm.
I've changed the spark plug, cleaned the foam air filter, but also tried without, had the exhaust apart and the spark arrester is clean as a whistle.
There is no resistance in the driveshaft pole.
Fuel filter/weight seems fine.
I think it's only a year or two old.
Any ideas?
I'd lost photos, but Photobucket have messed everything up.

It's Chinese made and about two years old? It's rooted mate. But seriously how badly worn is the carby? Does it need a clean?

If it only runs, or prefers to run, with the choke on then it's running to weak. You need to identify the mixture adjusting screw on the carburettor (assuming it has one) and give it a tweak
