Good to know the 850 box is a stronger unit. I'm also looking a going the honda route (d13) but not looking at big power, around 70hp hopefully.
Apologies for the thread hijack.
As an aside the one thing I'm potentially stuck on is the clutch plate. Does anybody know if a clockwise clutch plate will work in a counter clockwise set up?

Apologies for the thread hijack. Not a problem at all... I see these theads as a couple of gearheads hanging out in the garage talking about stuff. One subject will lead to another, and it all adds to the exchange of information.

This is a pretty slow moving thread anyway.
I'm not planning to change the car from the spec it's in right now, and I don't want repaint/ remove its battlescars.
Its earned every single one of them...
Its kinda semi retired, I don't take it to the track that often anymore.
I love driving it, but if I'd bend it it would be devastating to me.
Which is where the Leftover Special comes in.
It will be a car made up out of leftover parts ( and spares) from this car and other Fiats.
For a slightly lower "B" spec ( for budget and simplicity ), and fun without the emotional attachment...
I haven't decided on the exact spec and configuration on that one ( still thinking about it, I have some possibilities ).
That one will get its own buildthread when I start working on it...

grumpybadger re clutches and direction. My experience is with SIMCAs and the rear engined cars have anti clockwise engine rotation thanks to their 850 heritage. The same engines in the front wheel drive SIMCA/Talbot cars rotate clockwise. When I've been short of a correct clutch have used an FWD clutch, both pressure and centre plate in the rear engined cars... The springs in the plates are directional but they've been OK for not too lead footed road use. For the cars I've used for trackdays and drag runs I've always used the correct anti clockwise plates just to be sure. A Honda engine for road use should be OK with the gearbox, The SIMCA boxes fialed with the twin cam under serious 'hammer'. A continental facebook friend did a SIMCA 1000/Honda conversion using asingle cam Honda D15 engine based on my advice and he says that's been running for years OK.

I see the 600 multipla and the 850t/900t clutch plates have the same part number. Would these be multi directional?
The D13 i'm looking at takes a 200mm plate so the 850's measly 160mm may not sit against the flywheel 100%
There is a 200mm plate with the correct fiat spline listed for the panda 100hp but I assume those would definitely have directional springs in them.
Possible dumb question incoming
Could I flip the plate over?
Until I actually get my hands on an engine and try it's all a bit pie in the sky. I'm relying on parts sites for dimensions.

the clutch plate on my 133 and the SIMCAs couldn't be flipped over as the centre fouled the flywheel bolts if fitted the wrong way round.
