Perhaps a little rude to query when there's so much American muscle to look at, however... What was the deal with the white S30Z in the Predator Performance place? Not rude at all, I was loving the variety as much as any of us. Not sure, it was a whistle stop tour, sure was sweet though... And I think I'll be going back

It looks like the kind of place that loves to put supercharged V8's into things, which is why I asked. If you're wondering what a supercharged 8 goes like in car as small as the S30Z then do a bit of a Google or YouTube search for "Darius Z"

Wow...there's an article on Don Fezell's collection in either this or last month's 'Muscle Car Monthly' I picked up whilst in Vegas. As you say it's one of if not the most amazing gatherings of early-mid 60's US tin from the Super Stock/ muscle eras. Every time I think this thread can't be improved on, you improve on it. In-fcuking-credible.

So then we walk next door... Superbird? Hubba. I never realised the wing is cast alloy with supports that run down into the boot and frame... 'Old Reliable', the first factory lightweight Z11 Impala. All alloy front end and the only one to not be painted on the underside of the bonnet. Yenko Novas... The beige/yellow one being the actual Yenko demo car... Bought direct. If my facts are a little shaky feel free to correct... I pretty much had to imbibe a full run down of American muscle car history in a half hour. As I recall though, there are less than 20 Z11 Impalas left, four of which are in this room, including the only black and green one left... And the only four door ever made. A 409 with three on the tree. Vettes? Take a look around the background on these pics are there is so much to see... Ever heard of an M-Bird Thunderbird? Cobra jet Fairlane, Cobra Jet Torino... Ramcharger cars. Diecasts, low mile (like single figure) '90 SS pick-up and more. It's unusual to find such a collection of one marque together, but to find somebody who isn't marque elitist and has such an in depth knowledge partly due to having been there from day one... Plus the finances to put this together, is unique. And breathe... ;D Next, New York, New York... So good they named it twice.

Shattering, that. Just blown away.
Besides the Tonto lightweight, did his GM collection feature anything else but Chevy? Any Buicks, Olds, Cads, or GTO's/Birds? Not that he needs them!
Whew. Toweling off..........

If anyone's interested in discovering more about the history of the Super Stock era I can recommend 'Super Stock- Drag Racing the Family Sedan' by Larry Davis, published by CarTech.
I think Motobooks have it in stock, as does Graham at American Auto Mags where I got my copy. Cracking and exhaustive read.

With the weather on the turn and snow flurrying around PA, it was time to leave the first privately owned bed I'd slept in for over two and a half months The van was going to miss the garage too, here it is after we pulled it in for some running repairs. I managed to fit my Hippie pedal covers, the Autometer tach and with Gregs workshop help we bodged the exhaust together... Ho hum. The van is loaded with a whole bunch of stuff and NY is 280miles away, like I say it's snowing... and raining when it's not doing that. So twenty miles into the journey, my wipers packing up wasn't what I needed. I stopped at my Valhalla of all things cheap, Wal Mart and bought a screwdriver to remove the scuttle panel and see what was going on... To find the wipers are connected to the motor with a bar held on by a plastic circlip... A 32yr old circlip that had decided to disintegrate. It was about this time I decided to product test some Rain-X As the instructions say it has to be applied above 40 degrees and in the dry... I sought refuge in a car wash. I left the engine running, which warmed the screen and you know what? It only bloody worked... ;D A couple of hundred miles later and some tense, snow, rain, truck, interstate moments later... I made it to the Lincoln Tunnel toll. It then took me two hours to queue my way onto Manhatten, but it did mean rolling down into the tunnel I saw the skyline at night... Bonus. After a rather long day I stowed the van and headed uptown for a weekend based relaxation workout Returning on monday morning to pick it up from here... ;D I may have done it a*se about face and started at the Portofino Inn, Redondo... But I made it my own way. My own private Cannonball Then south into NJ after a short stop for a deli sandwich and drink. Into the shipping company and it was all very straightforward, ten days shipping out of NJ and it'll land in Chatham sometime mid December... One more thing...

Big respect byrn.
Thanks for the best thread I have ever read. It was awesome checking in and keeping up with your trek across the states.
That collection at the end just blew me away. Quality.
So when does the book come out? I'd buy one in a second! Will there be something in print somewhere, sometime?
edit: And that pic of the New York skyline is just fantastic.

muaaaaa.... they arrive in Chatham /goes to find offload point and set up camp... Awesome thread.... up to this point I'd never really seen the appeal in going to the states.. I can honestly say that I've now added a US tour to my list of things that I have to do before I reach 30.. (that gives me 3 years.. and with 27 days holiday a year.. should be acheivable..)
