Clearly a popular show round these parts, the weather helped (and hindered a bit, it was craaazy hot). Was nice to bump into folks, Dbizzle, Hardcore, Gobs, Mr.Bogner, DanVip, Mr.Woolmer of firebreathing Austin A35 fame, Mr. Ibbotson of silly low imp fame... and well a whole bunch of other, including one of the chaps that came to both of the Retro Rides Summer Holiday who I don't know if they are on here. So overall 10/10 for social times, although there are a few people I knew were there but I missed seeing.
I was mainly there for audio recording purposes for a video project I've got going on with the ever wonderful Jason Laroza (hopefully it'll surface soon). So I got there at opening time (9am... that is a 6:30 start for me... on a Saturday!) and proceeded to do a loop of the event and then spend an hour or so grabbing audio and interviews.
Once I had that in the bag though I was free to do as I pleased... so armed with my camera I spent a bit more time getting used to my new(ish) lense, which I'm still not 100% right with, yet.
This was the first car you saw as you exit the tunnel under Goodwood's track and mighty fine it was too

I believe this was recently finished at Kustom Kolors (Kolours?) and looked superb, I'm sure I've messed up the colour with my post processing

Always got time for a bright yellow pickup on shiny wheels

This looked like a real beast, anyone got any details?

Whilst eyes were (understandably) drawn to the redone Forge Mk1 Golf Berg Cup Look thang... this Maestro was catching my eye instead

Perfect notchback was a welcome relief to the super low on shiny wheels (even though it is both of these things)

Once upon a time these used to be everywhere, and now less and less do I see.

Couldn't get a good picture of this because of the extreme lighting conditions by this point in the day and it being half in and half out of the light.

Yup... would like to take this home

Then again this was pretty perfect too, 1602 I believe rather than a 2002

I think my car of the show though was this Beetle. It was properly customised, suicide doors, deguttered, loads of little touches all over the place, lovely interior, air install, really a properly retro custom.

Looking forward to heading back next year, and to our video being done ... and of course to Retro Rides Weekender at Goodwood on 19th and 20th May 2018
