South America, Venezuela, to be precise. I was driven in one back in 1990 when I was there visiting my parents who were out there for two years. Before finding this, I was convinced it was more like the Vauxhall/Opel Monza, but clearly it's Cavalier underpinnings make it quite stubby looking. Funny how memories play tricks!

I love the weird South American versions of cars we're familiar with in Europe with different names. I remember being slightly baffled by the VW 1500, a version of the Hillman/Chrysler Avenger with a new grill and VW engine, but I've now discovered an earlier version; The Dodge Polara. Obviously both Chrysler products, but the rear quarters are different (not as nice) to the UK version. What's double confusing is that the Polara name was also used on a Full size Dodge in the US.

Actually stumbled across this on American eBay: Laforza: also known as Rayton-Fissore Magnum.........looks like it's a Fiat/Alfa parts bin special (uno rear lights??) Available with 2.0 supercharged engine, 2.4 turbo diesel, 5.0 V8 and a 6l supercharged V8!!! It looks to me like a GTA car that's been in the garage and modified Has a reputation worse than a Maserati biturbo.

A 1964 AC A98 Le Mans, only 4 built & just 1 survives, this car was crashed & was lying around AC cars being used for parts, the current owner bought & restored it, sweeter than the Shelby Cobra Coupe imo

On Brazil...
Do I recall talk of 'the best block for a Talbot/Lotus is a Brazilian Block'.. ??
*ah! ... This car had an Avenger 1,600 c.c. pushrod engine and the well-proven running gear (Armstrong shock-absorbers and other cheaper but effective equipment for the privateer) but the 125 b.h.p. 1300 engine or the 2.0-litre Brazilian block engine of Avenger Group 1 ancestry can also be purchased. This allows 160 b.h.p. and Henri Toivenen used a similar car to finish a magnificent ninth overall on the RAC Rally...

Knowledge is to know a Tomato is a 'fruit' - Wisdom, on the other hand, is knowing not to put it in a 'fruit salad'!

I've seen it out and about a few times and it's very, very cool. I've got pics somewhere.

I'd never heard of these before, found hidden between many other car related books on the shelf.
