My 2 though not as battered, far left was £3 in a car boot so obviously came home with me, middle I've had since I was about 3 so has had a hard life, same with the A Team van. Had a fall guy pick up of the same size and vintage but that got stolen with some Tonkas from my grandads shed about 18 years ago.
Went to the tip today, basicly just an excuse to go to the shop. Got a couple of bits of furniture to restore, then went to the skips and saw someone about to chuck this in, and forgot all about the rules and asked her if i could have it. Had to have it.
Its been repainted at some point but has quite abit of rust over the roof and bonnet, and the windscreen is badly broken. So, do i give it a minimal clean up and take it to bits and try to vac form some new glass, or leave as it is? I quite like it as it is.
Ive had a look on ebay to see what is was worth just out of interest. There quite afew on there, and more than one of quite afew of them, but none of these. i Think ill give it a bit of a clean up and hide it in the garden for the nephew to find.
Circa early 1970's I had a friend who was a neighbour's son. He was extremely destructive towards his own toys and seemed to think a new toy was a challenge, he'd usually manage to destroy it in minutes. I remember his Dad giving him a fantastic big yellow Tonka Tipper Truck for what was probably his 6th or 7th birthday. After a frustrating half an hour of stamping on it and throwing rocks onto it in the garden, to little effect, he dug a hole and buried it. They certainly stood up to some abuse!
