Is that Liam? He runs the WPL Instagram page iirc. The company is Chinese. I want to pick one of those D12’s up at some point. They look great!

Yes it is Liam but he must be connected to the company in some way if he runs the official IG page. He’s asked me to take the WPL account in any posts about the custom stuff so enquires go through that rather than his personal account.

Oh yea, he runs the account officially, he just isn't based as part of the company in China was more my point, if I ever really had one. He's built some nice trucks.

I spent my lunch break hacking away at the bed section of truck number one to remove the drop sides. This one will be the minty phase of my truck. When I got home my wheels and suspension components arrived...

A bit behind on the thread, I spent a few hours on Monday night fitting up the front suspension on the truck who’s body I haven’t started hacking around yet. Swing arms constructed ... Height before... Body removed... Fitting of swing arms... The above steps were completed in pretty quick succession, I then spent double the amount of time but failing to fit the lowering blocks to the rear. I gave up and ordered some machine screws of the correct length instead of trying to thread nuts on savagely hacked threaded rod pieces... I’ll complete the rear suspension once the machine screws arrive. Here’s a photo of just the front lowered... Here’s a photo of my modelling tool box sat on the bed to weigh it down to a nice height... ... and a quick test fit of the wheels, yet to be painted and Kamtec tyres in the post... Since I posted the above photos on Instagram, Liam from WPL pointed out that I extend the steering arms to adjust the toe in so my wheels now sit straight too! I’ve completed the hacking of the bed from the truck which will be the minty phase of my 1:1 truck and the plasticard has arrived in the post too. I’m hoping to spend one evening a week on the RC trucks to progress them to completion before Christmas.

Big thanks to Soopahfly who pointed out these canopy structure pieces on eBay. £12.91 including postage from China and arrived in a couple of weeks. Just temp fixed together with two of the rods to check fitment... I need to find some thin metal sheet that’s thin enough to bend easily around the structure but not so thin that it deforms / doesn’t hold its shape as I push against it.

Could do it carefully with the foil from a disposable roasting tray, but if that’s a little thin, aluminium printing plates from print machines would be ideal, if you could find one.

Good plan I’ll pinch the one bought for the Christmas Day turkey. It might ruin Christmas but the truck will look spot on jpsmit thanks but the lead looks too thin unless I applied to another material like cardboard.

Some more 3D printed parts arrived yesterday for the minty 2018 phase of the truck... I’m excited to get a chance to paint bits and fit everything together

If you can't find anything suitable, I work in the printing industry and may be able to help with the printing plate solution Rich mentioned

Yesterday I made and glued in place the side pieces for what will be the minty RC truck, as well as using the offcuts to glue behind the A pillar indicators so I can smooth them as they don’t exist on the acty... I also cut the sides and rear piece for what will be the brown RC truck but haven’t got a photo of those. Next plans include applying milliput to the A pillar side repeaters before sanding and spraying them in high build filler primer. Weather dependent on when I’ll get chance to paint!
