Really? Is this what car related TV shows have sunk to? It was like a UK version of Gas Monkey Garage but with any cool or technical skill sucked out of it.
A £30K Escort in pastels and then they have the idea of a slammed Land Rover. Really? Their idea??
I think not.
I certainly won't be watching.

I thought it was the worst car program I've ever seen. 30k for an Escort - YES but not a Zetec'd non RS one... IMO Gas Monkey is 1000% better.

I had great hopes for it and was very disappointed and won't be watching again.
Does anyone know if the Escort was driven into the rocks just for TV or was it a genuine accident ?

Watched it and thought it was disappointingly generic - I was hoping for something different.

I missed the first one. 2nd one they do a MGB Speedster - which TBH once lowered a lot would have been a nice motor.

I missed the first one. 2nd one they do a MGB Speedster - which TBH once lowered a lot would have been a nice motor. Just caught the second half of this. Almost enjoyed it but couldnt stop thinking how lethal that metal hoop was behind the drivers head, they should have fitted a chariot hub spike to the steering wheel to make full use of the lap belts too. But then I have to remind myself it is just a television program, I am grateful we have so much choice compared to a few years ago.

I just watched the MGB one and quite liked it. A bit generic but some of the build stuff was entertaining Remember - this stuff is still for a more general audience than anoraks like us and something like this is a lot better than a lot of shows aimed at the gen pop.

they're all garbage and i feel are angled towards 60 year old men who don't know better, or 17 year old kids. Oh yeah, and Americans.
Every single episode is scripted, with a Story to boot. Proof is in the credits, look for whoever wrote the story. Total and utter utter curse word.
The more realistic ones i have found recently is Iron Resurrection, and maybe old episodes of the Garage.

Some of the cars are here, makes you wonder if the sales are real. www.performanceandclassiccars.com/I'm not impressed with it at all. Very much not outstanding cars yet they try to give the impression that they are the only people who do such things, they even said it I think. In the trailers they said something like " making the extreme even more extreme", a zetec engine in an escort and a second hand modified original engine in the MGB are hardly pushing the boundaries of what custom car builders do. In fact its very average, quite the opposite of extreme. The MGB was outstanding only in its ordinariness apart from the windscreen, and that looked silly because they didnt sort out the proportions by lowering as it desperately needed.

I watched the first one and thought it was awful. The woman plainly doesn't know toffee about cars. The other blokes facial hair gets on my nerves. I don't know who the Canadian is or why he is apparently a ' genius ' fabricator. All I saw was him cut a few holes in a tank and then some one butt welded some plates in. And the exhaust was something someone could do after being a apprentice for a couple if months
I get very irked by all these programmes with people making out they are highly skilled craftsmen because they are not and are little more than charlatans. Just because you can lay down a bit of weld doesn't mean your a highly skilled fabricator. People are just doing it for the kudos and blagging as it is seen as cool by the hipster lot.
All dressed in there carhartt gear with tape over the rivets which they then didn't bother with after 2 minutes. Fitted new front panels then got someone to paint it then bolt on a load of brand new ready to fit parts.
No thanks. As said, for kids or anyone not actually into cars.

Can't believe it was 8/900 quid for a front end for a mk2 Escort especially pettern parts.

Also I have just seem the trailer for the landrover. It's either Bruce's landrover off here with a different reg or its a exact copy.
Either copying the idea piecemeal or its his car and they are staging it all.

We are yet to see anything new, interesting, dynamic, ground breaking, influential or skilful. Could be worse, think Bernie and Leepu. Now deleted from my series link

Also I have just seem the trailer for the landrover. It's either Bruce's landrover off here with a different reg or its a exact copy. Either copying the idea piecemeal or its his car and they are staging it all. I saw photos of their Land Rover a while back, was really looking forward to seeing just how they dropped it, but recently a Land Rover mag came through the post and it's the standard front axle, but with the swivel assemblies 'relocated' on drop plates at the end of the axle casing. Was hoping for it to be done properly with a traditional drop beam style axle. I think they channeled the rear chassis above the axle for it to sit up higher. Otherwise apparently it's a standard Land Rover...

Solves that mystery then, I recorded Salvage Hunters and caught the end of it but didn't realise it was Goblin Garage, 80 squillion pounds for our ruined MGB sir? And we will leave it on US spec ride height for you!

A few of the cars have been for sale on ebay, I search my classic by location nearest to me and they are only located six miles down the road. Not watched the program though.
