I think I qualify for the T shirt with 'Permanently Distracted' emblazoned upon it - I got elected to the local village hall committee just over a year ago - its a nice modern hall next to the village green and is very well used we turn away as many booking as we take due to the occupancy rate and the diverse nature of the bookings is unbelievable - so setting aside the normal hires for parties etc it has bookings for the table tennis club, computer club, gardening club, ukulele club, dance classes, palates, kids clubs, music club, WI, church coffee mornings etc - it also hosts the local children's nursery on a permanent basis in the small hall - The hall committee stage 3 - 4 events every year which are always 120 + capacity sell out & well received within the community - anyhow the village hall has a list of requirements that have somehow landed on my patch This is the new notice board for the porch Once the primer on the frame is dry I will find a hour or so in the coming week to go up & fit it - I have already been up and changed the loo seat in the disabled WC and measured the porch roof for new guttering - then I need to sort a overhead projector system for the main hall - it never stops !

Looking forward to the strip down, bodywork and repainting of the hall. Will it be an entire thread to itself?

Er - That will certainly not be happening and its a good job SWMBO is currently working abroad because if she found out that I was doing stuff up the village hall before me getting her utility room fitted out my backside would most certainly be bacon

Er - That will certainly not be happening and its a good job SWMBO is currently working abroad because if she found out that I was doing stuff up the village hall before me getting her utility room fitted out my backside would most certainly be bacon Our village hall, here in Docking, Norfolk, was completely re-roofed at a cost of £80K; all monies to complete that task raised by the Village Hall Committee (DVH) in one year. They then have managed to have the floor of the main-hall stripped back and resealed, together with being marked out for various sports. The two sets of double doors in the main hall replaced, and look superb. All internal doors changed to comply with Fire Regulations. The DVH Committee is now fund raising to replace the kitchen facilities, which are costed at £32K, in order to comply with current legislation, and things are hopeful. The Village Hall is well used, and a Saturday morning cafe held on the first Saturday of every month, which has become basically a breakfast club and well attended. So clearly some communities are doing OK then.

Being involved in the village community like that may be another advantage to you with your favorite neighbors. People tend to be less hostile towards folk who have the social backing of the wider community and are popular among village friends. Less likely to stir things up if they fear the whole local community will turn against them. Even if they don't get involved in the village themselves, there is the natural desire to avoid any apprehension in the local post office, local shop or petrol station, especially if the village is quite small and tight knit.

no space for an auto jumble at the hall then ? or maybe neighbourholics anonymous meeting Well firstly we don't need a village hall for the meeting of the like minded in order to sample various beverages we just stagger from one neighbours house to the next (apart from a certain one) - however on my list of events for the hall is bring back the good old village fate type of thing - part of the fate would involve a small classic / retro gathering and if that went well I would also be up for organising a autojumble / classic meet at the hall every 6 / 12 months

There are a good lot round here - the local councillor also supports my efforts both with the business and up at the hall (he's on the same committee has me) - funny enough a certain pair of neighbours were always invited to the hall events and for some reason or another their name has dropped off the list of invites over the last 18 months or so

Stayed in Docking a couple of years ago and remember visiting the village hall for a farmer's market. Seemed to be a good vibe around the place. Don't rate your chippy though

Old notice board removed New one erected - just need to find time in the week to get a couple of coats of gloss on the frame ....If I were to be rude,I woukd say there was naught wrong with the old notice board. Methinks you’re all suffering from Gerry Hat trick eye disease and needed more space on the notice board for notices with bigger print....🤣🤣🤣 Top work as usual 👍

And, being as it's missing this bit... how will anyone know what it is anyway? Now I can see it clearly, someone obviously doesn't share the sense of community!

Other things happing in the workshop currently This stripped 1970's Lambretta Cometa is in for paint After a visit to the shot blasters Support bracket for the stand had broken off Fortunately still available as a part Cut the old bracket off & used the leg shields for ensuring the correct location of the new bracket Upper section of the leg shields reshaped whilst it was fastened to the frame Rather than chase it around the workshop with the hammer & dolly Bracket welded in situ & dressed back Initial profiles formed Ready for primer Primed Then guide coated Then flatted back - scooters are one of the more difficult things both to prepare & paint - not many appreciate just how much time it takes to do them - due to the complex compound curvatures / shapes along with the small parts involved Virtually all of the work has to be done by hand - there are no flat surfaces that you can machine sand So that's the mind numbingly boring task of the prep out of the way - hopefully I will get a final coat of primer then final paint on it today

I’m not a scooter fan, but I’m always impressed on the cleverness of their designs; the frame on that is a very elegant shape.

Glen - Bear in mind that this is cutting edge futuristic design of the late 60's they were named after the space ambitions & exploits of various countries hence the 'Lambretta Vega' & 'Lambretta Cometa' I will stand corrected but I think the Vega was 50cc single seat & the Cometa 75cc twin seat - both now highly collectable

I'd love a Cometa or Vega, I had a friend that had a turquoisey blue one when I was 17, I always thought he looked a right plum back then, but now? Oooh Yes! I'd have one.

All the parts rehung and all areas had to be repainted white - now this is for a particular reason - certain colours just don't work over any colour base - some colours like dayglo yellows / greens / oranges along with fluorescent paints have to go over a white base - whilst its not going fluorescent - it is going very Tango ? This is the original factory Lambretta colour Very in keeping with the late 60's / early 70's when these were all the rage Very difficult things to paint - ensuring that you have sufficient paint coverage without achieving paint runs I think its shiny enough The larger panels will still be subject to a flat & polish once its cured though
