As some might know I occasionally write for a few magazines, but, frankly, it takes a lot for me to spend a fiver in 'smiths nowadays. Instead of moaning about it, I decided to create my own. Great idea, financial suicide, who knows, but I need to get it out of my system. There's a KickStarter here, which explains what's what, and has some nice rewards for those interested in helping to get it off the ground. I would very much appreciate your thoughts, I hope to shape this into something special that the likes of me (and, perhaps you) would be happy to buy.

good luck with it. I personally don't buy as many magazines as I used to now the internet forums have taken over but I occasionally still buy if there's a feature on a car I'm especially interested in or if I'm going on holiday... I usually stock up then on stuff to read by the pool. I'd definitely buy your magazine to see how it compared to your blog ( your MX5 rebuild blog was great and very entertaining) and if the magazine continued in that same vein then I'd probably continue to buy it.

Having read your earlier work, it was very easy to persuade me to sub up to this initiative!
Best of luck!

This looks very good! I had a good stab at getting into motoring journalism (before I opted for teaching), so I would be very happy to lend a hand with some of the writing if you need it.

What a great start - thank you all!
Will I see many of you at the Morgan factory? We have the place to ourselves...

It reads like Hayburner, just not for VWs. I'm intrigued, I have to admit. I bought and enjoyed your book. I liked your writings in PPC when I still bought it. Maybe I'm holding back because the perks don't actually involve getting a copy of the first issue?

I must admit for the most part I've given up with magazines, especially the UK one. The problem for me is that I just don't think the monthlies are all that good. I find the photos as a rule are poor quality with little to no thought put into them, and the writing is a bit lack lustre. I do however buy a few quarterlies. I quite like the Rodders Journal, Fuel, DicE, and various other book type magazines, and have often wondered why there isn't a UK type one. Hopefully yours will fill that void! I know its probably too late for this comment, but personally I quite like the likes of DicE, and HopUp for size, personally, and I have no idea what this would mean financially, but I'd prefer a smaller sized magazine with a higher page count, how much do you hope to sell an issue for?

I'm halfway to being sold- admitting that all UK magazines are curse word (except the automobile) is a major starting point, backed up by asexual t-shirts.
But can we have some more idea of actual content? It's sounding kinda like it'll be 'the jalopy' for a newer generation?

I can't offer a copy of the first issue for tedious financial reasons, but I can tell you it's 75% complete and the rest of the content is almost there. Issues 2 and 3 are in good shape, too. I like to think ahead! Thanks for your comments on PPC, I still occasionally write for them, and others, too, but MotorPunk is my baby. An ugly, crying all night, puking on your shoes baby, but mine all the same. If only I knew who the Father is...

I'd prefer a smaller sized magazine with a higher page count, how much do you hope to sell an issue for? I like A5 sized stuff, but the Publisher says that A4 does better, on quality paper and perfect bound. Price? Not quite nailed yet but certainly no £15 coffee table nonsense.

I love Jalopy, the 'up yours' attitude, love of the unlovable, and all that BL rubbish. Have a poke about on the MotorPunk website, it'll be very similar in vibe, but with better pics, longer features and (hopefully) fewer typos. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I enjoy putting it together. I have a full-on day job and spend most of my time ignoring emails and fawning over rotten BiTurbos.

Pledged, always wanted to visit the Morgan factory. Thanks Mark, I look forward to seeing you there. We actually have the place to ourselves and will get a personal tour of the place, plus a good look at a few of their cars. The Three Wheeler is crackers.

This is flying now, 143% funded (!), and we're going to have to limit the numbers at the factory as we may have underestimated the interest in getting a new magazine off the ground.
Issue one will have stuff about the following; Lotus, Austin Princess, Alfa Romeo, the Saharan desert, a VX220, MG Midget, Noel Edmonds, Fiat 124, a leaky boat, President Mobutu, Rover 75, a portable motorbike, the love of De-bloody-lorean, Scotland and the Fiat 124.
Stand by...

Sounds interesting. I'd certainly buy the magazine but I never do those kickstarter things. Too complicated and modern for my tiny brain.
Good luck with it all. I look forward to seeing it and hearing more about it.
