That's another good reason for my 5am start... to avoid the car-based bow wave of the Leviathan acting like an EMP device on traffic for miles around. It probably has the ability to start affecting traffic before it's even left home.

Not 100 percent sure if there's any parking restrictions (ie time limit), but your best bet is probably the supermarket car park at the arrow on the map (off the tiny little roundabout) as they have a big car park, food and drink, toilets and fuel garage. Also just along the red dual-carriageway bit is a Pizza Hut and McDonalds. The southern-most part of Goodwood circuit is at the top of this map Here is the Goddess in that very Pizza Hut/MacDonalds car park after the infamous A27 (we woz on the BBC!) tyre blowout. How to recognise the Goddess in it's special VIP lane. You will meet a sort of semi-rolling roadblock. As you get further up the queue you will see a red speck on the horizon, this means you have many miles of people anxious the get past the Land Leviathan but as they pull level they all slow down to see what's occurring. After cursing those people for many miles you will do exactly the same thing. I will be the bloke in the cab having a larf. I'm going to bring a grappling hook and through it over your tailgate to drag me in.

That's another good reason for my 5am start... to avoid the car-based bow wave of the Leviathan acting like an EMP device on traffic for miles around. It probably has the ability to start affecting traffic before it's even left home. You missed this from the Goddess thread As for rumbling on the road, the Goddess literary group got together in the pub last month to try to come up with some new(ish) verbs to describe the type of speed (or the lack of it) when under way.
So far we have
0-10mph = Bimbling - a slow to very fast walk speed - stopping distance - the next street 11-20mph = Trundling - can overtake some cylists and also the sound of their bikes being crushed into the roadway - stopping distance - the next village 21-30mph = Wombling - giving milk floats and legal mopeds a run for their money - stopping distance - the next parish 31-40mph = Bombling - tailgating pensioners and pulling pedestrians off the pavement with the slipstream vortex - stopping distance - the next county Over 40 mph - laws of conventional physics have packed their bags and gone home - stopping distance - the brakes are on fire so who knows ;D
Not too happy with Wombling and Bombling so close together and need something to describe the white-knuckle, arm-sawing, pant-wetting speed between 41-50mph. You're unlikely to see a Goddess over 50mph unless it's in freefall or it's mass-inertia is distorting the space-time continuum so much that it is actually travelling forward in time.

I'm going to bring a grappling hook and through it over your tailgate to drag me in. We can recreate a scene from the Italian Job. Wait until a straight section of the A27 and I'll put a bungee strap on the steering wheel and a brick on the throttle (Elon Musk - Tesla Autopilot - PAH!). I'll then climb back and throw you the winch cable, drop the ramps with the skateboard wheels on the ends and winch you up, celebratory handshake and then push the Acty off the back at the next corner with a cliff edge, huge explosions and home for tea with the Mafia and the Rozzers none the wiser. It will be AWESOME. What could go wrong? Shall I ask the blokes from the Grand Tour if they're interested? fr€$h&m1nt¥ could be played by the Hamster, @quatermass by Captain Slow (another one with a fascination for sump plugs) and me by the Talentless Gobshite.

I hit the Dover docks by 9am, so won't be there as early as you are, but hope to be there before 3. Excellent. Hope you don't mind an old beige camper lowering the tone of the Dutchies camp area then... Look forward to a good catchup Plan to take the Friday off work, and probably bust the kid out of school (shhh), but it's still a good 4 hour bumble on a good day from the Eastest of the Anglia's down to Goodwood, so I doubt we'll be there before opening time...

Hey, has anyone received tickets yet?
I'm trying to stay laid back and laissez faire about it but I am getting mildly sweaty about not having any tickets. Less than two weeks to go now.
I'm just listening to HoTwire's update videos and hahaha he's clearly highly stressed out juggling 200 flaming hedgehogs... so I'm kind of assuming the tickets are on their way. But if anyone gets/has their tickets ... maybe mention it here so the rest of us know it's time to start having a flappy panic.
It's all going to be great.
= )

We're planning on setting off from Glasgow on Thursday around mid day. The plan at the moment is to stop off somewhere like Gaydon to check out a museum or something on the way down then continue the journey on the Friday, hopefully arriving at Goodwood on Friday mid afternoon.
We'll see how that plan goes...

I've left already and hope to be there sometime around Later, Manila time.
If I'm not there, don't bother sending a search party, it's likely the door seals didn't hold and I'll have sunk without trace.
