I found when selling my mk2 vr6 a couple of years ago even though it had a full respray in the original colour so body work was perfect, fully undersealed, 140k on the car 75k on the engine, absolutely mint interior a owned 9 years with nothing needed. Advertised for 4k, dropped to 3.5k and started getting more interest and took 2.8k for it. Problem is that the engine converted cars just don't fetch much of a premium as more original examples are now rarer! You will get more interest if you advertise for 2.5k and just budge less when negotiating.

Tbh I couldn’t take that much for it. I think I’d end up just keeping it in the garage a few more years until it will fetch more if it didn’t sell. People are still breaking these so numbers are dwindling 👍🏻

I think holding onto it is the only realistic way you're going to see the money you want back on it mate.
Prices will clearly rise, no doubt about that and the rarer they get then the issues won't mean much at all in relative terms, in a few years you might even get back all the money you've put into it.
But as it stands now needing arches doing with possible other welding work, bodywork and general tidying up with high mileage I personally think that even at £2k as it is would see it advertised for a fair amount of time tbh.
It's got potential just not at the value you've put on it as it stands in my opinion.

Did i mention it has a full service history? 👀
I’ve actually turned down offers of way above £2k for it, and I’ve always been very up front about its condition. Mechanically its as good as they get, its a 3 door in the right colour. You’d pay £2k for a ropey 8v nowadays 😉

Same here with my view , its not just a little welding or bodywork its a lot really and the rest is tired/average .
As said , a lot of people either want a bodily sound one for a conversion or original - i tend to thing as well that its not going to appreciate if you stick it away for a few years .
Just my 2p

I'd love to see you get your money back on it,but the truth is,modified cars are money pits😊 Somebody offers you two grand, take their money and run, you won't be getting many genuine offers over that for the condition it's in, not with that mileage.....
