if it's the guy I'm thinking of, he had a business partner and possibly Derby based? again. long time ago now. if you have his name still look him up on the internet, his car was found nr a woodlands (memory serves me right a ford focus?) but he never was, last time I checked (few years back) a missing persons case was still open regards Chris That was Amber racing and cannot recall the guy’s name at present - No not related this chap I have it my mind his name was Mark and he is based just down the road from John down in the West Country. Ginetta owners not quite driving him to become a missing persons case.

I am impressed with myself for remembering his first name at least. IIRC he was working on an SS100 when I went there but his plan was building a lovely Italian thing which thinking about it now could well have been similar to the Maserati AGCS6 that was the initial inspiration for the Falcon/ELVA/Gemini That would be a twist - so probably wrong. So John, is that wire frame creation an Homage to the Mystery machine? Hmmm - May have to commission you to roll up a bonnet and a bootlid for the Gemini - be nice to have a bit of Genuine aluminium on it Wow - really cross pollinating this thread now.

Very much "A make it up as I go along" but with a nod to a DB5 certainly in the rear three quarter view with the rear light arrangement. The little blue coupé in your photo bears an uncanny resemblance to what I have in mind.

As you rightly guess the Lightweight was sold and funded a V8 MGB which I sold last year to fund a new range cooker. So I have no funding for the current project which is not ideal but I'm tackling it in bite size lumps which eases the load. But even with careful planning it looks like I'm going to be hit with all the fuel injection costs, the instruments and fuel tank in short order.
I'm very aware this is thread drift from Andrew's superb write-up and rather than take any emphasis off that perhaps I should start a new thread on the project.

funded a V8 MGB which I sold last year to fund a new range cooker. The sacrifices we make - I am having to reign back the projects a little this year due to domestic spends. Would be nice to follow the build with a thread on here John.

All's well, but the spitfire's stalled somewhat as I'm focussing in the Jag to get at least one reliable working car for the moment, but it's next on the list! Recently bought one of the fancy subaru diff conversion kits from the chappy down under so that's one more piece of the puzzle at least. Yes please to a write-up! Both to prevent any more cluttering of this excellent thread, and because your work is really rather impressive as well! I think the folks here would really enjoy it funded a V8 MGB which I sold last year to fund a new range cooker I think I'd rather be eating pot noodles if that's the trade off!

Nice one John - enjoying the thread already - also nice to see the G15 made an appearance.
Off to see my old G15 mate tomorrow - going to pick up another Imp Large bore exhaust for my G15 - I was not going to bother on the more mild tune Chesman 998 that will be running on CD150's but when the opportunity to get a decent large bore presents itself there is no point passing it up.
I am also sitting here with a stupid grin on my face after testing the launch control function in my lads M2 - what a hoot. At a mere 235BHP/Ton the figures are not earth shattering but it leaves pretty quickly when you launch it.

I notice that PalmerSport where I used to work have a fleet of M2 Sports which must be awesome on a circuit or on the road. No worries about leaving your axle on the road with the launch control unlike the fears I have with the Reliant back axle and 150bhp! I'd love to see you if ever you find yourself down this way.

Your lad has an M2? Wow, what a lucky boy. I'd love to see you if ever you find yourself down this way. Yes quite lucky - I was in rusty Alfa Romeo at 22 ! Now things are beginning to open up a bit more I will make sure to get down your way and make a visit this summer. G15 - That's his as well! Large bore for the Chesman. Had a play on the old lathe today making a couple of parts. First off I turned up a couple of spacers for the bushes of the adjustable Triumph wishbones Dimensions to double check and the jig to make. And then I moved onto making an adjustable oil pressure relief valve for BOY - these are not that easy to come across these days - PHX had one fitted and as luck would have it my old mate RBE had one on his oil filter mount that was not in use so that I could have a close look at it. On PHX Method of construction. 1. Get a PRV and turn off the rolled end of the body that retains the valve. 2. take it all to bits 3. Drill the end of the body 8.5mm for a 5/16 UNF tap 4. Tap the body 5. 45 degree chamfer for seating an o ring into 6. Make up a "Pin" that sits inside the spring and provides a face for the adjuster bolt to seat on when adding additional spring loading. (cannot see what they did in the original) 7. Assemble and tack weld the retaining bush to the body, Pin made from a bolt - 1mm head depth will add a little extra pressure over standard. Tacked new version and crimped/rolled old version I also managed to test fit the alloy deep groove pulley to Denso Alternator which it did so all good.

Great work! Personally I'd be quite apprehensive about making my own oil pressure relief valve, but I suppose it's all just bits that go together. Make a couple that work and I'm sure the apprehension would wear off...
I do find with moderns like the M2 that speed feels quite dull. Makes them nice to sit on a motorway in, but 235bhp/ton in a Ginetta or a Spitfire would feel a lot closer to light speed than it would in a modern BMW. Still, a damn sight faster than what I was driving at 22 (also a slightly rusty Alfa Romeo, albeit of the V6 variety so I still felt pretty lucky TBH).

Not trail blazing here just a tried and tested modification to make a standard PRV adjustable for a step up in performance. We are going from a 6500 redline to 9000+ so a bit of extra margin to push the pressure a little higher than the stock 55 PSI - Aim is to get it up to 65-70 PSI. Probably going to have a look in the shed and see if I have another couple to modify as Mr molebert will probably be wanting one for KBW M2 like most modern cars is so capable that you need to get to some serious speeds before its exciting - However a full launch is fun without braking any laws providing you take your foot off the gas after 4 seconds. I was going to suggest to him that we go in together on a 4C..... I may well treat myself to one in a couple of years just to revisit my Alfa strewn Yoof if the Strato's is not doing it for me.
